The G68 is very similar to the 861v4 and MD2 definitely self-configures as D2, D4, D6 and not D4, D5, D6 as you have said above.

When you set for MD it automatically defaults to these individual inputs.

Look at the rear photo on Duncan's Page and you can see how the IE42 is even marked so.

I am confused!

This looks like a typo in the Wiki; I've now updated WiKi - Setup Meridian Preamp with HD621 and aligned it with the G68 and 861s rear panel labelling.

I hope this makes is a little clearer, once all connected I suggest you play a DVD / BD that has a channel identification tool just to be certain and peace of mind.

Regards,
Carl

Thanks to everyone espically Carl!

I got it all programed, updated firmware loaded on both devices and new scratch built configuration file uploaded to both devices and everything worked perfectly. But I can't be sure about the D6 input.

Still the only question is does MD2-D6 get 5/6 or 7/8 from the HD621??

The graphic on the config program shows the HD621 output connection to the D6 on the IE42 card as being for DSurr "for surround I assume" but which surround" Surround Sides? or Surround Rears?

And then that leads again to the question what is 5/ and 7/8?

Anyone out there have an HD621 connected to a hardware version 4 861 that can finalise that question for me.

Thanks again for all the help!

Thanks!

The 7/8 coax outputs are currently unavailable on 861v4 so it is 5.1 only. In order to achieve 7.1 without additional processing you need at least 861v6 and MMHR connection from HD621 to 861v6 (or v8)
