I am thinking about buying a DSW2. However, I do not want to add a pre-amp like a 861 or a core 200 or so. Is it possible to daisy-chain the speakers?

Like: 562 - AC12 - Master - Slave - DSW2?

The 210 is strictly a streamer, not a controller.

Save yourself a lot of unnecessary grief and buy a used 218 zone controller to fully realise the DSW's full potential.

Thanks for your replies and ideas! Indeed, the current 210 streamer doesn’t have the ability to control the DSW (sub gain, sub filter, loudness, EBA), which is VERY strange since the budget legacy streamer/roon endpoint MS200 has all the functionalities.

However, I managed to use MS200, connected to 210, to set up the DSW. The settings will stay, also when streaming directly from mconnect (iPhone) to 210 as long as you put the system off only into standby. A „hard“ shutting down makes the 210 forget the settings. And usually you NEED to adjust at least the sub gain (in my case to -12db).

If the DSW.2 is anything like the DSW, you'll need a speakerlink to serial cable to set the N(on)V(olatile) settings for gain and crossover. You can use an AC12 or 11 if the rest of your system is legacy or can output legacy slave comms and sp/dif (you'll need a special master cable for that). That should allow you to set NV with signal present, otherwise it's going to be a bit repetitive try - set - try... There are only 2 crossover settings but gain is in 1dB steps.

Once you're connected, use the terminal in the control function of the configuration program and type NV? to get the settings and their current value. Most will say SL meaning they expect a Speakerlink controller to modify them.

then you'll need to configure your main speakers with the crossover for working with a sub.

After that it's exactly as you describe, set the switch on the DSW to the middle L+R position.

Oh and if you ever sell it, put everything back to SL... Otherwise SL controllers won't be able to change the settings for the new owner....
