Making its appearance at the Cedia Expo in Denver Colorado the first week of September.

The UHD121 is designed to allow the use of SpeakerLink DSP speakers with a TV. Using the HDMI EARC from the TV to get the audio to the speakers and CEC to control the speakers.

Think of it this way, you would be able to use your Apple TV remote to control everything so the whole family can enjoy your system.

Also to be shown are updated versions of the DSP730 and DSP750 in wall loudspeakers which include some of the technologies developed in the Extreme Engineering Program (DSP9 AND DSP8000XE).

You would use a SpeakerLink Input on the 861, not MMHR which is used by UHD722.
Also make sure to set the TV to output DD, not DD+ as the 861 can't decode DD+.

You can Wire TV > UHD121 > 218 > DSP Speakers.

For a direct to Meridian source such as a DVD or Sky Box.
Removes any latency the TV may add, and removes any performance reduction from passing the audio through the TV.
It also gives you back the HDMI input to the TV which the UHD121 has used, in the case of TVs with few HDMI Inputs.

Hi,

I don’t see it connecting the multichannel RJ45 input port of an 861, as it’s a SpeakLink output not a MMHR connection.

I doubt Meridian have considered using this with an 861 but I guess it could be connected to a SpeakerLink input on the 861.

I wouldn’t underestimate the benefit of having a single remote, to be honest. For us, the TV is 80% of the hifi’s usage so to be able to drop the current Harmony remote in favour of a simple TV remote plus Roon via tablet is quite appealing.

Depending of course on the price!

I’m not sure how long it’s been there for, but there is a user guide on Meridian’s product page – which I haven’t seen before - but it may have been there a while!

It mentions that certain devices (e.g. 210) won’t power it over speaker link.

It also goes through the many configuration options should the out of box functionality not be appropriate.
