Hi guys,

I am at a loss of how to connect a HD621 to my 861v4. (I want to play movies from my laptop via HDMI, have to HD621 split the sound to the 861 and the picture to my projector via HDMI again).

Somewhere I read that you need 3 RCA cables from the SmartLink outputs, but I am not sure where to plug the into my 861v4?
Also, do I need to use MConfig to set up the HD621, or will I get some results without (to see if the connection worked)?

Thank you for the help.

I think there is some confusion over comms connections...

You will need to connect a 5C comms cable (5-pin DIN lead) from the CO00 card on the 861 to the HD621.

I understand that you may already have both sockets populated - one to the Master speaker and one to the 808.
If that's the case, then connect the DIN lead from the spare socket on the 808's CO00 card to the HD621.
Comms works on a daisy chain principle - so provided each unit is connected to the next, all is good.

Hope that clarifies!.

You should not have anything connected to the 5/6 output socket on the HD621 or the 5/6 socket on the 861 (unless you run side speakers)

Cheers,

Steve

Hi,

To connect the HD621 to the 861v4, you will need four cables.

Firstly, comms link between the 861 and the HD621.
Next, you'll need three digital phono cables from the HD621 to the 861v4

Link as follows:

HD621 861v4

1/2 MD1 (D1) Front L/R
3/4 MD1 (D2) Centre/Sub
7/8 MD1 (D3) Rear L/R

You'll then need to configure the 861v4 to have a multi-channel digital input, and you'll need to configure sources on the HD621.
If you run up the Meridian Configuration program, that will guide you on the configuration.

If your D1 - D3 are already in use, you can also use MD2 (D4 - D6) and program accordingly.

Good luck,

Steve
