Perhaps try using an older version of REW if available?
Never used REW but thought perhaps that might allow you to better follow along the wiki, I'm sure an older version would be just fine anyway.
I'll try to give MRC and Radio Shack a whirl later this week on my G65 and see how I get on. I always had either the issue with S/N (on my 861) or when it would work it would generate so few filters I didn't bother writing them to my processors. I had zero complaints about my system anyway, as the M surround pre-pro's always had a much clearer, more dynamic and less muddled/veiled sound then other top shelf processors until the start of the Atmos era, mid 2010s - and even then it took the likes of a 25-40k Trinnov/Lyngdorf/Storm/Datasat to get most M users off the 861. Don't care about Atmos or chasing 5000 channels with garbage listening mode capability so I don't worry about it.
TBH I wrote off worrying about MRC long ago. I've always been a proponent of passive room correction, and in my big system with an M front end it's easier as there's no speaker placement fussing with corner horn mains. I've always said even people that have decently treated rooms and still aren't happy just don't like their speakers. You have to like your speakers first, before worrying about settling on a pre, amps etc. but I digress
