I'm choosing to believe in hopeful optimism. I have been a big believer in the Meridian design philosophy.
Could this be the advancement in DSP processing from one of the leading and original developers of the technology?
One can hope.

Meridian today is not the same as Meridian in the past.

I don’t think they are really a traditional hi-fi / audio company any more, if they ever were (at least as far as making kit is concerned). What they are doing is exploiting a lot of software and audio processing knowledge and licensing this technology to a variety of companies in different markets. Producing some state of the art speakers is a great demonstration of what is possible and serves as a “shop window” for Meridian technology.

We should think of them as an audio technology company - producing a few great products - and making money (I hope) licensing that technology.

Just my 2 cents….

I believe that's a good thing, however to your first point, I'd argue that a business can still be influenced by previous owners due to the culture and beliefs they instil, Bob Stuart included :-).

I'm delighted that Meridian is consistently making a profit. I really do *not* want to see this light extinguished as it has been an important companion in my life for many, many years...

Many high-end companies have gone under the umbrella of bigger groups and are thriving with their original product base, just with better sales, marketing and backing. I don't think this was an inevitable direction, just one the current owners decided to take.

Hi,

Also useful to search for their interview with John Buchanan.

I think we can view Meridian as having evolved from a traditional high-end Hi-Fi company that was just about breaking even to one that is focused on remaining profitable through the licensing of technology (and branding) to others, yet still makes high-end Hi-Fi equipment.

To a large extent, the latter will likely remain as that's where the value of the brand comes from.
