Properly pissed off tonight.

I have 3 G98s and a G91. I also have a 500, 2 different 506s and 2 596s and as of tonight not a single one will load and play a disc without some sort of problem.

Ok some of these are old units that’ve sat in storage for a while but the G series stuff is in regular use and practically unrepairable and now worthless, unless somebody wants to persuade me different.

I have a couple of Oppo Blu-ray players that so far work ok, but they’ve stopped production, where do I find good quality disc spinners for my collection of discs. I have [censored] broadband so streaming this stuff isn’t going to work, even before we ask the price of streaming the stuff I already own on disc.

Meanwhile my dad has the first bit of Meridian kit I ever bought, a 206DS, from 1993 -30 years old, working beautifully playing his CDs.

Like I said, properly pissed off.

[censored], Richard

I have a selection of live concert DVD’s, thus this discussion is in keeping with this ‘music’ disc spinners thread.

RichardW was also asking about video alternatives to ‘disc spinners’.

They may not be made any longer. But Oppo still service them.

Cheers Greg
