I heard the Trifield mode kind of long time ago and I liked it.

I plan to have an M system mainly for music (DSP L/R) but also with front center.

Now, did anybody try Trifield with both DSP and non-DSP centers and is there an obvious way to go? Like DSP-center is much better sonically than a passive for different reasons (easier setup, integration etc).

The plan is DSP7200 for L/R. What would be the most economical DSP center to match with them? I mean sound quality is priority, but money is not unlimited.

My understanding is that the best solution for Trifield is to have identical speakers across the front but a 7200 centre (HC or, ideally, VC) might be more costly than you'd like, but that's the ideal solution.

The next best solution would be a 5200 centre then onto a 5000, depending on budget.

All Meridian DSP speakers can be used as a center (in combination with a multi-channel processor) or part of pair.
The firmware does not require changing, it's just how it is setup in the configuration that changes.
