I bought a Meridian G61RSL from another website-seller was upfront that he was not the original owner and he hadn't been able to do anything with it. Have had a lot of help and support from this forum trying to get it to dance with my 24/96 DSP5000 speakers.

I took another poke at it this afternoon - thru both Reviver and AC12-still nothing. Watched TV for a few hours and just left it on during that time - powered up for about 5 hours and both SWMBO'd and I heard a rapid clicking sound - coming n going - intermittent. I finally localised it to the G61 - hitting the front power switch did nothing - finally turned off with the back panel master power switch and went silent.

I will probably look for something obviously toasted after I pull the top cover off tomorrow. Is this clicking sound a known symptom of some sort of failure with this generation of Meridian pre-pro's?

I suggest you don't turn it on again, although from your description, it sounds like the damage may have already been done.

I think this is a power supply issue. These are readily available, specs are on this site either in Wiki or Duncan's Meridian Info, a complete service including the PSU and checking the boards isn't that expensive and once done, the unit should run for years.

You may be able to undertake some of this yourself, if not, I believe Mark Koval offers these kind of services.
