Posted this on the Roon forum, but no one's biting - anyone here know, please?

Upsizing the internal 2.5" SATA SSD in my ROCK which stores my music files (not the M2 drive which ROCK itself resides on).

What are the cleanest steps to achieve this and migrate the data across to the new drive, while retaining all the edits/data in Roon, etc, please? Or do I have to reimport?

First backup your music files to some external storage. Then install the new SSD and check it appears as a network share named:
\\ROCK\data\Storage\InternalStorage

I think the key step is to stop the Roon server "watching" while you make any changes to your storage.
Use the web UI (http://rock.local/) and click "Stop" under the down-arrow next to "Roon Server Software".
ROCK continues to run so you can still see \\ROCK\data\Storage\InternalStorage and use the web UI.

Plug your external drive into the USB socket on the front of your NUC and copy files. I used Windows File Explorer. I had one
explorer window open on the external storgae, and another open on the NUC internal storage. Then you can copy/move/rename/delete
between them.

When done, click "Restart" in the web UI to restart the Roon server. Wait a bit to let it do whatever it does.
For example you might see some Library maintentance is needed under Settings > Library.

It is a bit stressful but I found it actually works well. Please check Roon support in case I missed something.

On a Mac (should similarly work on Windows). From ‘Finder’ > Go to Server’ > (type) ‘smb://rock’.

Your Roon storage contents appears on screen.

With your new bare bones SSD connected to your Mac/PC via USB, open the SSD icon for its (blank) contents to appear.

Then, drag the contents from your Roon Rock folder to the empty window of your mounted (new) SSD.

Once completed, swap the SSD’s.

Job done.

If you plug an external drive into the USB socket at the front of the NUC ROCK will automatically mount it and you'll see it as another drive under \\ROCK\Data\Storage. Then you have two drives at once, one named InternalStorage and the other named whatever your external drive is.

No worries, it's often a "walk in the mist" the first time new systems are set up.
