Hi,
I am currently running an entire QUAD setup with the Quad 66 pre- and 606 power-amp powering the ESL 63 electrostats - now a friend has offered me a Meridian system with 502 and 505 amps.
It looks like they would easily be able to power the ESLs, but I am hesitating...

Any thoughts/ experiences?

Thanks, Chris

I have Meridian equipment and also Quad (but older electronics than yours). In my opinion you will not notice any difference between the two sets of electronics unless you want to (I don't mean that in any way pejoratively - nuances of sound are very subjective and beauty is in the brain/ears of the listener). Overwhelmingly (again in my view) the clarity and magnificent lack of colouration of the ESL63s will show through whichever amplifiers you use. But why not have both? Part of the fun of sound systems is just owning different things which are good in their different ways (appearance, usability, ergonomics etc).
