Hello, Meridian newby here. I recently inherited a complete Meridian system that had been purchased in 1996: 4 DSP5000, a DSP5000C, an M2500 sub, a 565 Digital Sound Processor, a 586.2 DVD & a 562V. I have hooked up the 565 & 2 fronts, the center & the sub & ended up with 2 M5 cables left over. It seems that I should have 2 S5 cables left over to hook up the surround speakers. I followed the instructions for using the center as Master & the fronts as Slaves. If I were to follow these instructions, I would need 2 S5 cables but ended up with M5s.

So my question would be, can you not hook up all 5 DSPs with the cables that come with the speakers? There were 1 each of M5 & S5 with each set of speakers (3), a total of 6 cables.

Hooked up this way, the system works except for the sub; there may be an error in the typing/config system which I will check later.

The other problem I'm having is this: Since the 565 does not have HDMI inputs, I need something to convert HDMI to RCA to go into the 565 analog inputs. I got a J-Tech converter that has an HDMI input & RCA L/R outputs which I plugged into the 565 but no joy - nothing comes out of the speakers. If I plug the digital out from my Oppo BR player, I get sound from all except the sub (see above). Same with the sound outs from my TV (Pioneer Elite Kuro, inherited along with the Meridian system).

Can any of you experienced users give me a couple pointers here? Do I have to get 2 more S5 cables? Any advice on getting the HDMI converter to work correctly?

Thanks, folks!

Erik

Also do you know anyone who can set this all up if I can not make them work, I will pay. Maybe you may be interested in setting up?
Thanks again..
