Yes. A 0dBFS signal in 24 bit Left Justified format into a device expecting 24 bit I2S is clipping by 6dB.

In reading through this thread here are all the settings I have derived. Please confirm:
Downmix to 7.1
All speakers to ON
All speakers to large
All speakers to 0db
All speakers to 10ft
Secondary audio OFF
HDMI LPCM
SACD PCM
COAX out LPCM
LPCM rate 96k
Dynamic range control to OFF
861v6, Oppo83 (3xSpdif Mod), Wiim Ultra running Squeezelite, Tivo Edge, Apple TV v4 with Key Digtial Audio Extractor, Von Schweikert fronts and center, Triad in ceiling sides and rears, Aerial SW12, Orchard Audio Starkrimson 3 channel and Sunfire Cinema Grand amps

I believe that since you are decoding in the player and outputting LPCM, "Seconday Audio" can be set to "ON" if you want to hear director comments, etc. Is there some reason you would set "Downmix to 7.1" instead of "Downmix to 5.1"? You definitely want to downmix 7.1 to 5.1, at least until Meridian begins to handle 7.1 discrete.

You definitely want to downmix 7.1 to 5.1, at least until Meridian begins to handle 7.1 discrete. +1 I don't know too much about Oppo, but all speakers and 7.1 doesn't sound right with a Meridian setup. It may also depend if using an HD621, I'm not sure if an HD621 can do the downmix. I'm also not sure if "Downmix" generally means drop the side channels. And if it does it probably doesn't matter if it's 7.1 or 5.1. The Meridian will rederive them.

Why do any of the speaker settings apply? Wouldn't speaker settings only apply for analog output? The "analog" output is what is tapped before the DACs. As far as the player is concerned you are using the "analog" outputs.

Yes a 5.1 down mix would make more sense.
