I'll gladly wait for the "JimK Investigation"...

It should be imho. There is a limit to how long a problem can be allowed to proceed.

I had a Metronome Technologie CD4. First one stopped intermittently, same with the replacement. Refund was then completed within 24 hours. That is great service.

Let's hope the problem is identified!

hopefully it is the transceiver board however I have my doubts because the players are testing just fine here

thanks Jim

Gary, appreciate your agreement to the steps in the proposal, if not the refund. The Oppo is on it's way to Shawn. He'll have it Thursday and then let us know what he finds, depending of course on his busy schedule. I've sent him three typical CDs that demo the problem as well as your Laura Croft Bluray. We'll get that disk back to you ASAP at the end of this test. JimK

Gary has not been on this forum for 2 weeks. He also has not responded to emails to his website. Have others who ordered units through this powerbuy seen any product yet? Am I the only customer who is frustrated about this?

Depending how you paid it might be worth checking whether you're better canceling the order to protect your consumer protection rights, and reordering when you're sure that it's going ahead. I ordered one on 22 June when the region free and SDI mods became available. The last post I can see from Gary on the AVS forums in the US was 29 June.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts via email to Gary's site or here and offering direct telephone contact to clarify the shipment situation, I canceled my order and payment of May 15 as you suggested. As a consequence Gary barred me from further business with him. So I am not in the waiting list of the eight anymore. I hope the other seven will receive their modded players soon.

Despite the difficulties in doing business with Gary especially with respect to consistent and reliable customer communications I am still prepared to give an order for a modded BDP-83, with the proviso that the technical issues reported by JimK are fully resolved to Jim's satisfaction.

Gary, the ball is firmly in your court mate, we are waiting to see how you respond to this challenge. I hope you will come through with flying colors because I and I'm sure others are really looking forward to taking possession of a modded BDP-83.

What have you done to warrant banning? Waiting 2 months for a unit to be shipped? Seems to be very reasonable to cancel after this period of time especially when all attempts to contact Gary in a reasonable manner have failed.

It seems to me very short sighted banning you for future purchases. This attitude has not only lost you as a future buyer, but probably influence many others on here as well I am sure - I was thinking of a modified region free Oppo myself but will, when the time is right, now buy in the UK and not from Gary. No wonder that so few people have taken Gary up on his original offer - I am sure that most people would have wanted to see a how the units performed and if there are any reliability issues before committing to purchase.

If that was here in the UK, Roger would probably have the law on his side for breach of contract (not providing goods or services within a reasonable amount of time) and Jim would have the legal right of a full refund for a non working player, let alone being able to send it back after 7 days for no reason at all.

Roger my email works fine as everyone that uses it knows very well, I simply never received emails from you, actually that is partly wrong, the only one I did receive is you asking me again to repurchase

I was a ants keister from shipping your player and you filed a fraud claim with American Express, I wish people really knew what this did to folks like me, if they did they would be a little more cautious in doing so and make sure it is 100% desverved

you know I am on this forum, you know I have been in business for a long time and you know that many on this forum have received shipments from me, there is no reason to do that in my opinion, so I returned your payment and said do not contact me again to order because I would not accept it, nothing more nothing less

as for purchasing, I suggest you do purchase somewhere else, if you don't like what you see with me or my work or anything else than you are very wise to move on as is anyone else, I have no problem saying that at all

thanks

Ian, Roger filed a fraud claim against me, I refunded his money and took the BS over that claim from American Express, case closed, I do not and will not accept another order from him, this is my prerogative and to say that I owe or are somehow required to allow him to purchase from me (again) is beyond insane

I have a backlog of 3 weeks on each Oppo order(much improved lately), minimum, meaning that if he placed another order again it wouldn't ship for that long, at which time he would again most likely file another fraud claim and we could continue this over and over, I have seen it happen before, I let everyone know this

Rogers order and a few others in particular took way too long due to some supplier issues, I informed him of this via PMs we were in contact over

Peter, I am glad to hear that and I really do hope to provide you with the Oppo you are looking for

I have informed a few customers that things have been a mess here since mid to late June, lots of personal issues that stopped me from replying to customers like I have most always done, add to that so many supplier issues that they are enough to make a person sick and you have a royal mess over the past 6 weeks here

things will be straightened out and ALL my Oppo orders shipped very very soon, as I said before, we have more than enough players now to fill every order I have, won't be much longer now

thanks for everyones patience and business, it is much appreciated

There are always two sides of the story and I empathise with your position. When the time is right, I will revisit and make my judgement then.

I too hope that everything turns out well as this modded player is definitely something I am still in the market for.

thanks guys, like I always said I will be 100% honest and straight up with everyone

Roger did wait far too long for his player, that is the truth for sure, no doubt about it
