Such B Grade stock is openly advertised on the websites of some Meridian dealers. This is either ex-dem or ex-loan equipment, or items that Meridian no longer produce - such as G91/G98. On the HH2 day, Meridian were simply posting the very limited range of goods currently available via such dealers.

A belated thank you to Nick and all at Meridian for an exceptional day. It was soon apparent that the event had been thoroughly planned to the last detail and would have used up a tremendous amount of management time, so far from thanking those of us who attended, our thanks go to all those at Meridian who worked so hard to make the event so special and made us feel so welcome - from the bacon rolls on arrival to the goodie bags on departure.

My highlight was to talk to Allen Boothroyd at lunchtime along with the 810 demo.

For those of us unfortunate enough not to have made the trip, can I presume from the scarcity of photos that none were allowed?? I would love to just see the setup!!!

Living on the other side of the pond a visit to M Hq would be one of the highlights of my life, second only to Bob coming to my house to setup my system!

I hope I can make it sometime in future HH days.

Thank you everybody involved, this is truly a great treat.

Unlike last time, to my surprise, photos were allowed, except in the R&D rooms. However, I only noticed one or two HH's taking photos of the day, although we were followed round with a Meridian 'photographer' so I suspect that these will appear on the M website at some point like last time.

If you want A pic of Myself or Drongo with a DSP 8000 I could try and post it although I am not expecting many requests.lol Chris

Very nice to have to be able to tour the factory. Only I had to make the very difficult choice of dropping one of the sessions. Since I thought : those DSP8000's can never sound good in that reception area. In retrospect a BAD BAD decision :-) Oh well they were in the Theatre as well. More my type of application anyway.

I was thrilled with HH2 so please excuse the following raving.

First some highly deserved thanks in chronological order:

Thanks Nick for organizing this from the Hiker side. I appreciate that the coordination work, information posting, and question organizing took a lot of work. You did a tremendous job without which I don`t think this could have happened.

Thanks Philip for organizing the breakfast and paying for the “foreigners”. I really appreciated easing into the intense discussions and meeting a few hikers in person before I was engulfed by the swarm.

Thanks to the Meridian management for putting up the tremendous amount of time and money that was obvious that you put into it. With the resources that you provided a large group was able to get virtually personal attention. The lunch was scrumptious and the pub after gave me a chance to get more insight on the day from my “new” friends - it also helped ease my terror of the big lorries hurling at me on my side of the road and deal with the steering wheel on the passenger side.

Thanks to the Meridian team. The warmth of the reception, genuine interest and going the extra mile to relate to an eclectic group of fanatics was palpable.

Thanks to all my fellow hikers for coming. What an eclectic group from the full spectrum of people with a common love and the magic of communicating in “Meridian” to each other. Chatting in person was a whole new dimension compared to trying to communicate with only the written word on the forum.

It was a spectacular day. After having 32 hours of travelling home time to think about the day, I came to the conclusion that my main benefit was nothing to do with the list of little concerns and questions that I had come with. Rather it was a reinforcement of the reason why I am a Meridian fanatic. Because Meridian sticks to their fundamental philosophy and skill, and do not compromise with short term trends and industry stupidity, their product sounds 1006 times better. It put the negative and non answers to some of my questions in perspective. Sure I want instant gratification to my “immediate needs” but Meridian will do it when the time comes that it can be done the right way. It gave me a sense of confidence in my primary objective and loyalty. It also helped that they understood my desire to have “near perfect” sound from a server into my Meridian system and gave me the answer that it is available right now by running a server through an 808. I also deducted from their non answers that there will be more solutions coming up that are more affordable for my budget. I have no doubt that the thrill will wear off and in the near future, I will want it all and I will want it now, but when that happens I will force myself to reread this paragraph.

Nick, are you starting on HH3? I would like to bring Joanna next time and tour a bit of England while I am at it, but I would need more lead time to organize it.
