It was a good joke from bob, everybody laughted because everyone knew he "would not comment...." the usual sentence....

Amazing day, many thanks to Nick and Meridian for orgainisng this.

Impressive things:-

* The Commitment of Meridian (and the enthusiam of their staff) to the day. We had 20+ staff committed to 'our' day.

* The bass on control on the DSP8000's

* The scaling and interpolation on the 810 projector, and that custom lens

* The speed of the Sooloos interface, makes any other music browsing interface that I've seen very clunky

Oh and the Roadmap, to be expected form any commercial company:-

Now -> More Stuff -> More Cool Stuff -> HH3

So roll on the More Stuff and More Cool Stuff and look forward to HH3!

Any news regarding firmware updates for the DSP7K/8K and G68/861 with the new upsampling filter? So far it has only been released for the DSP5200.

Thanks to Nick and M. It was a much more HH-focused event than last time in that, to me, it felt much more relaxed, informal, and no sales pitch in sight.

No new product announcements. Mr Perceptive has posted the official Meridian roadmap above. This was actually one of Bob's slides!

The 810 was very good and it is HUGE! Now that Faroudja is (obviously) history, I will concede that M can now do video and do it well. I am so glad it is so expensive and so big, because that makes it a complete non-option for 99.9% of us. Did I say it was big?

The 8000s fed by the 808.2 were stunning. Incredibly, in spite of the fact they were in the large, hard surfaced, glass-covered, spacious, Meridian reception area, they were still capable of reproducing the acoustic of the venue. Richard Hollingshead (Director of Engineering) said they only tried them out the night before HH2 and were quite surprised at how good they sounded in that, intuitively awful, "listening room".

I took some notes and will write them up. Most of the questions we submitted to M will be answered in the CEDIA/CES-style at a later date. Bob said it would take ages!

Lots of opportunity to chat with other Hikers both at HQ and at the pub afterwards.

The day went far too quickly. I had enough questions for at least two more similar events!

Some fantastic toys on display. The 810 was amazing and although the setting wasn't ideal (they used the reception area, hard floors and surrounded by glass) I loved the DSP8000 with the 808i2. Anyone know of a bank that has actually got some money and has very poor security?

Good explanation of Trifield and the width setting. Width works on the difference of the left and right channel and so width has no effect on mono sources. I loved the box marked "magic" in the flow diagram.

I think I am going to play with setting my DSP5200C as small in Mconfig!

What a wonderful day!

I loved the 808/8000 combo and was blown away by the 810, but the thing that impressed me most of all was the genuine passion that Bob and all at the mothership have for their products.

It was great to meet and chat to fellow Meridianophiles who also know the twin frustrations of how to fund their addiction and placating spouses when they do acquire new kit….

Thanks to Nick for organising the event, my good friend Chris (Chrislayeruk) for assuming driving duties, but most of all to Bob, Rhonda, Richard, Des and all the crew for giving their time and their very generous hospitality in hosting the event.

Great organisation, passionate and friendly people and damn fine products too. A pretty special way to spend a friday.

For me the highlight was the 8000s, I've always been sceptical that they could be as good as people claimed but not anymore - pity we couldn't 'create' some more B-Stock as we went round the factory!

A huge thanks to all involved (especially Des - he knows why...) - now whens HH3 because I really want to see and hear more cool stuff

I would like to reiterate all the thanks have been said to Nick, the Meridian team and also to all the fellow hikers who made it such a great day out.

As my inaugural visit to HQ it was a real eye opener and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The demonstrations show that the quality and performance Meridian equipment sells itself without the need for the sales pitch!

Can't wait for HH3!!

Like others I believe the day went far too quickly .

When that filter from the 808.2 goes to the Sooloos and other M players its going to give M an almost unfair advantage over the competition Breathtaking !

Nice to chat face to face with other hikers rather than relying on typing .

My thanks to Nick for all his work - it is greatly appreciated - and all the staff at Meridian (equally appreciated!). A massively instructive and informative day. It was tremendous to meet and talk with Bob and his colleagues and to see how deeply the philosophy is embedded in the day-to-day operation. A real eye-opener on the technical/production side for me.

So much to see - could have filled a day with any one of the demos. I absolutely concur with the plaudits for the 8000's performance in reception. It was great to meet some of the faces behind the names both here and at M. I just wish I had even more time to put even more faces to names.
