Sorry I am a bit late in my letter of thanks, but I have had to go to work to earn funds for future Meridian upgrades....................

First, Many thanks to Nick (Hiker) and all the Meridian Team for getting this sorted, it was a Privaledge to be there.

For those who could not attend, I dont think it is possible to convey how good this event was, you will have to trust us here, it was the best!!!!

It was great to see other hikers again although we did not have enough time to chat to everyone, there was just too much to do and see.

Who says you cant get a Free Lunch?

Tips that I picked up for those not there:- 808.2 DSP8000's, Buy them!!

If you follow the crumb trail in your system set up instructions, you wll have a great system, there is no magic involved here. (The Magic is in the boxes)

Dont be afraid to set your expensive speakers to "Small". It may well improve things even more.

We may not get a road map, but you can be assured that there is one.

The integity and commitment to quality products for the right reasons is what came shining through to me from all the staff.

Also we got a Cool "Goodie Bag", Thanks guys and Galls, Chris smile

Just to give a flavour of the whole group sessions, Bob and Roland had a couple of A4 (letter) sized notices. One said "No Hitchhiking" which was waved any time forum involvement was mentioned, and one (I think) said words to the effect of "Meridian will not comment on future product plans". The last one got waved a lot. Bob was on top form and we had a lot of laughs.

One other nice touch for attendees was "Exclusive 'HH2' Personalised Product Offer":

In recognition of our close relationship with the 'Hitchhikers' we are delighted to offer attendees of the HH2 event the unique opportunity to order any new Meridian product and have it customised with a personal message from company founders Bob Stuart and Allen Boothroyd.

This is a limited-time offer and applies only to new products ordered today or within the next 7 days via your Premium Partner.

In short, you can specify a personal message of up to ten words from Bob and/or Allen which, I assume, will make it on to the case somewhere. There didn't appear to be a restriction on what was an acceptable ten words wink , but I reckon "Meridian does not comment on future product plans" would be a good 'un. grin

Im probably going to get a HD621 and have it engraved "I hereby decree that all future purchases will be free." Signed Bob Stuart

Thanks to all involved in making this such an enjoyable day.

The highlight for me was the 810 projector demo. This was just streets ahead of anything else I have seen.

Although not actually confirmed, it looks likely that the apodising filters will be released for the processors soon.

All in all, IMO, better than HH1.

For those of us unable to attend, would you elaborate on what was said at HH2 that would lead you to that conclusion? Thanks.

Nothing was announced offically or said in the sessions.

Bob said something (in an aside to another hiker - not sure who) about the 861 and, as this has very similar firmware to the G series it is not unreasonable to assume that "it's coming".

As was said to me "... everything comes to those who wait."

Just got home and rushed to check what's on the forum.

On behalf of my son Alex and I we would like to thank all involved in making this wonderful day happen. It was easily worth all the effort to get there.

Thanks Nick and all at Meridian for the effort you put into this.

But for me the highlight was spending time and talking about so many things with fellow hitchhikers, especially Jon, David, DP1 and Dolf (who's probably still flying back!). I am only sorry that I couldn't find the pub afterwards but perhaps it was just as well, as we had to drive back to London!

As for the equipment, the 810 was phenomenal in every sense of the word! The 808/D8ks we knew about of course and the lack of extensive setting up of the listening area matches what I have been saying on this forum about this combination.

The presentations and explanations provided were spot on and I left feeling even happier with my choice of Hi-Fi equipment supplier.

We are already looking forward to HH3 !

I would also like to extend my thanks to Nick for his organisational skills and to all at Meridian for their time an attention. It is a joy to meet so many people who are so enthusiastic about their work.

The only downside on the whole day was that up until Friday, I honestly believed I had an excellent music system.

I knew it was going to be an expensive day.
