Has anybody heard from Gary Murrell recently? I had an email exchange with him last weekend about his Paypal link being down and was advised that all would be fixed by 'Tuesday at the latest'. Since then no further word and it's still not possible to order a modded unit from the Powerbuy page.

If Gary's reading this perhaps he could respond.

He last posted here on June 23rd.

If I recall correctly, his mother is very ill. That's a situation where promised deadlines suddenly seem less important than usual.

I've also got an email or two waiting for reply...so this no doubt explains it.

In the meantime, anyone have a unit installed and care to offer a HH review?

I am seriously wondering what is going on with the modded Oppo-BPD-83 powerbuy. I have ordered and paid for a unit on May 15, 2009 and there is no indication that this unit will be shipped in the near future. Oppo is showing that they deliver stock players 'same day'. Gary has not been on this forum for 2 weeks. He also has not responded to emails to his website. Have others who ordered units through this powerbuy seen any product yet? Am I the only customer who is frustrated about this?

FYI, I ordered one a few weeks back once region free came on board and I haven't had any updates - albeit this is nowhere near as long as you have been waiting.

I assumed it would be a few weeks before I heard anything, although I didn't expect that May orders would still be outstanding.

The answer may be contained in tommypeters post above. Perhaps those in the USA may be better placed to obtain an update and share with the forum?

Depending how you paid it might be worth checking whether you're better canceling the order to protect your consumer protection rights, and reordering when you're sure that it's going ahead. I ordered one on 22 June when the region free and SDI mods became available. The last post I can see from Gary on the AVS forums in the US was 29 June.

I do not think that anyone has received any of the modded players through the powerbuy program. I think that I submitted one of the very first orders just after the program started on May 14th, and also have not heard anything. Unfortunately, there is no contact phone number listed on the Custom HT website, so even us folks in the US only have email as the only way to contact Gary.

I last heard from Gary on 6/29. I was the 3rd early buyer, had some problems with the Oppo and sent it back to him. I think he's out of pocket for now with family problems. While it's frustrating to be in the dark, I don't think there's anything to be done until he's back on line.

the good news is that many many Oppos will be shipped early next week and I have all the players needed for every order we have so far on the way, so plenty going on and not much more waiting for those that have ordered up until about a week or so back
