I'm really enjoying the BDP-83 thought a modified Octava, rough edges and all.

Streaming could also be done from your own PC (or network-server) to your Home Theater setup, no high-speed internet required for that.

A nice combo-machine is the HDI Dune Center that is both a Blu-ray disc player, as also a network-streaming device (either wireless, or wired). With it's build-in harddisk, it also appears to be a HD-recorder and archiver and you can hook-up even more harddisks via 2 e-sata ports and USB-ports (region-free as well, by the way). Choices, choices...

Gaining more experience with the BDP-83 into the Octava. No pops, clicks, or dropouts through HDMI. Very high quality DVD-A playback. Talking Heads and Yessongs are fantastic. Interestingly some disks just start playing the multi-channel tracks, some I have to turn on the projector just to push play. SACD's are great. Beck and Bowie are great. High resolution audio from DD Master Audio is also great on movies.
The picture is pretty much perfect as can be on my my 720p DLP projector. If they could solve the handshake issue it would be perfect. But we're getting used to 3 seconds of blue screen when changing disks. I have the player plugged into the home network so I guess it will tell me when an update is available.
I imagine price/demand to be pretty solid for a while but it's not a terribly expensive player to begin with. The idea right now is to give it one last A/B comparison with the PS3 before sending the game console off to flea-bay.
I prefer using a remote to using a game controller to watch movies and listen to music.

I am reposting this here in hopes of a reply or some direction: Has anyone had experience with the HD621 and the Pioneer BDP-09? I have the 09 set to pass "deep colour" to my Kuro display which works fine when connected directly to the display (using second HDMI out). The display indicates 36 bit colour. When going through the HD621, I cannnot get the display to show 36 bit no matter how I configure the player. The colour and seemingly the contrast are washed out somewhat compared to the other direct connection. I thought the HD621 would pass on the video untouched and allow passage of deep colour information. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I (thus far) haven't seen any postings related to this.

Sticking my neck out by commenting on issues beyond my competence, but I think the latest firmware for the HD621 addresses colour space issues. It's on the M website. Now I'm going to scurry back to my video noob's hidey hole.

Any first impressions on the Denon A1UD ?

I haven't really looked as I just set up my Pioneer BDP-09 and am thrilled with it. The Denon sounds like a strong contender but really pricy!
