no, I currently don't have any way of measuring jitter, my claims are based purely on customer feedback and my own usage with other mods(like SDI, which jitter effects greatly) and listening myself

I am 100% positive that J and Joe will see(or should I say hear) what the digital transport ed is all about

thanks

exactly, you can't connect the unit with upgraded power supply into 60/60 balanced power sources, this is because of how the transformer is setup, thankfully with the mods you don't need to plug this into a balanced power rig

the power plant is not balanced power as far as I know, balanced power uses a transformer and the output is labeled as balanced 60v/60v

the unit can be connected to any power setup from Panamax, Monster, PS Audio as long as it delivers straight normal 0/120v

some balanced power setups do have non-balanced outlets on them as well, so you can connect the Oppo there as well

thanks

Hi Gary

Could you please confirm the following:

1. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the region free would be automatic for DVD and manual for Blu-ray. Is that incorrect?

2. I assume that all the output formats mentioned above as available from HD-SDI are also available on HDMI. Is that correct?

3. Any confirmed date for availability of region free?

Thanks

Colin, the region free mod will be manual, not automatic, the unit is powered down and the region changed on the remote, then powered back up, takes about 10 seconds

480i, 576i, 720p/50, 720p/60, 1080i/50, 1080i/60 and 1080p/24 are available via the HD-SDI output

region free and HD-SDI will be available soon, still being worked out, won't be much longer now and may coincide perfectly with the release of stock to dealers in a few weeks

thanks

That means it's no transformer upgrade for Europeans, we need 120/240 50/60 like the original. But I think the Meridian SPDIF mod is enough for me anyway.

BTW, have we seen any Powerbuy prices? What retail price for the player have you used when calculating your prices at http://www.custom-ht.com/oppo.html?

I don't have a problem with that at my place... coachjay will have to answer for himself concerning any listening session at his home. Send me a PM/email so I don't lose track... I'll let you know when we have the play date nailed down for my listening session.

Put me down as interested in the powerbuy as well.
Can you confirm if the transformer upgrade is suitable for the UK/Europe?

iirc the older power plants did have balanced out. however it looks like the current premier does not (as verified by ps audio) hence the confusion.

I'm sure they would, I am having a few guys look into doing this right now, as long as they have your billing address I don't think they would mind, plus the people at Oppo know me pretty well I would think smile

let me know if you need any help at all
Well, I could be a mentioned "Early Mod Adopter" supplying my own Oppo, got my Priority Order email after I told them the player shouldn't be shipped to Sweden but to you.

What are the mod prices (PM if you want) when sending an Oppo to you? Mainly the plain Meridian mod (can't have a 120V-only transformer) and possibly region-free (might be ready when you get my player from Oppo)?

no that does not mean no transformer mod for 220v, the units can be wired for 220v just the same as 120v input, the power supply mods I do are 100% capable of both, just when set for the given power sources like say 120v you can't connect 220v or vice versa, unlike the stock Oppo which takes all in at once

powerbuy pricing will be around 8 to 10% off the website prices as it stands now, there is talk about the Oppo being 599$ instead of 499$ which would effect these prices

thanks

my power supply mod is 100% capable with 220v or 120v, the buyer just needs to tell me which he needs and I set it up for that spec

thanks
