Apology accepted - I posted after checking the HDMI website, and I quote: "New HD lossless audio formats: In addition to HDMI`s current ability to support high-bandwidth uncompressed digital audio and all currently-available compressed formats (such as Dolby Digital and DTS), HDMI 1.3 adds additional support for new lossless compressed digital audio formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™." IIUC, from your post LPCM is "high bandwidth uncompressed digital" - correct?

Correct. Noticed it said compressed (i.e. bitstream). The HD621 doesn't do bitstream. It only does LPCM and that has been supported since 1.1. It was one of the gripes when HD621 was announced that why did we have to wait so long. Supposedly 1.3 supports better meta data so the HD621 operate more intelligently.

If you think listening to music is fun, try learning an instrument.
