Just discovered this, so I have not read all postings to see if this has been answered.

I'm definitely interested in a region free player (Meridian ED of course). But how about delivery? I live in Denmark.

would you want the digital transport ed with or without 4x SPDIF?

price will be pretty decent for these 2 early buyers wink

thanks KJ

Hi Gary,

Definitely with 4xS/PDIF!

Try setting the video output to 480i/p and see what happens. On the 980 with my mod that will force the Oppo to downsample >=96kHz to 48kHz.

thanks for the suggestion, but no joy... I tried all of the video output settings... none of them affected the PCM rate over the modded SPDIF ports.

on a more positive note... all of my DVD-A discs now play after installing the latest firmware... the Oppo is still having trouble playing the DTS tracks on the discs with both DVD-A and DTS, but it handles the DVD-A tracks just fine (which is the important half of the equation)... it also does just fine on DTS only discs.

I have more customers overseas than in the US, we take care of our overseas buyers, we eat some on the shipping, little duties due on shipments, no added taxes and paypal payment or bank transfer accepted

thanks

I moved all the "Edge" shipping issues to the Edge thread.

Folks interested in the Oppo Player are not blind and can read the Edge experience with Gary in Edge thread. There is a stickie thread for transaction experience. But I advise you wait until it's over before you do.

Overall Gary seems to be professional about this whole thing from my vantage point and mishaps in shipping and customs do happen. But it's no reason to trash this thread.

coach has not confirmed yet that he wants the other early unit, the first did go to KJ and is confirmed

Oppo is saying around 3 or 4 weeks before steady stock is available to dealers like me, so these 3 early units should help out with those interested in what the player brings to the table

I think that people are going to find what they get for even the modified price to be worth way more than what they paid, I would put this modified unit up against anything at any price wink

I also want to add that anyone that is lucky enough to get a early unit can contact us about having their player modified right now, sans region free and HD-SDI, both coming really soon, most are wanting one stop premodified players though which makes sense for most and I appreciate the patience in waiting for that to happen, won't be but a bit longer now

thanks, much appreciated

Gary,

I may have an opportunity to get one early. What is the procedure for getting it modified (PS, Clock, 4X SPDIF) with you?

I think Gary said RS-232 version won't be available right away.
