By the way my response was uncalled for. We have so much confusion here and I get upset seeing more confusion added on the things we do think we have right. My apologies.

I see no-one has any solutions to avoid the need to disconnect the HDMI cable from the 621 in order to play CDs, SACDs and DVDAs with HDMI output from the source. Presumably then you must alternatively keep your display on, which is wasteful and unnecessary. The HD621 has a "receiver" mode specifically for the case when the display is off. This is mentioned in the manual.

Apology accepted - I posted after checking the HDMI website, and I quote: "New HD lossless audio formats: In addition to HDMI`s current ability to support high-bandwidth uncompressed digital audio and all currently-available compressed formats (such as Dolby Digital and DTS), HDMI 1.3 adds additional support for new lossless compressed digital audio formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™." IIUC, from your post LPCM is "high bandwidth uncompressed digital" - correct?

IIUC, from your post LPCM is "high bandwidth uncompressed digital" - correct? Correct. Noticed it said compressed (i.e. bitstream). The HD621 doesn't do bitstream. It only does LPCM and that has been supported since 1.1. It was one of the gripes when HD621 was announced that why did we have to wait so long. Supposedly 1.3 supports better meta data so the HD621 operate more intelligently.

You don't have to configure anything. It is supposed to go into "receiver" mode automatically. So why do I need to disconnect the HDMI out of the HD621 to enjoy music only? I use a 568.2MM.

Sounds like a question for Meridian... I was trying to avoid this because I thought this forum would give me an answer and because of the slow response time through my dealer, but I have bitten the bullet....

Sounds like a question for Meridian... slow response time through my dealer, but I have bitten the bullet.... Why you not pushing your dealer,he get a lot of money when you buying M equipment. Tell M that the support is not acceptable and get direct help from the M-uk. In my experience they are allways helpfull, friendly and fast,at least at Dave Halls times. The HD621 is pretty new and the whole forum is now learning(see the lot threads),and i have the impression that a lot of player and displays have not standarised dialoge in reality. Do you know that link-it may help https://www.meridianunplugged.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=92639#Post92639Good luck Robert

Tell M that the support is not acceptable and get direct help from the M-uk. On the contrary, my dealer in Taipei is always helpful (I live in Kaohsiung) and responds immediately to my emails. She has sent my request to M today.

Are you able to use mconfig to configure it where it's a 568.2mm latest mconfig may not work.
When other folks configure your HD621, do you do it all through g68/861 or do you have to move the rs232 to the HD621 to configure it?
