For anyone following the stories in this thread I'll provide my update.

After multiple emails and several letters to Paypal I received their reply which basically stated that I wasn't covered by the Seller Protection Policy and that their letter was final.

I received this letter 8 days after the 'debt' had been passed to their recovery company, Intrum Justitia (confirmed in the first call of many by Intrum), so they had no intention of listening to my side of the story and providing any customer support.

I have since passed everything to the Financial Ombusdsman stating that I do not believe that I should be held accountable for a Paypal user having his/her account details stolen and used (seems to me like they are trying to get me to pay for their site security issues).

To say I am cheesed off is an understatement as this has been going on since April but according to several other stories that is but a moment of time. I will keep you all updated.

I just bought an item from soneone on eBay.
Seller said the Payment was put into "Pending" state.

We both called PayPal.

They have a new policy.

This is the message seller got from PayPal:

"Payment Review has been completed and a temporary hold has been placed on this transaction.

To get the funds sooner, please ship right away. We'll release the hold after 21 days unless you receive a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal on the transaction.

We may release the hold earlier if:

The buyer leaves you positive feedback on eBay
We confirm that the item was delivered "

Well since eBay owns paypal, it can only get worse..
eBay really sucks, their support people must be zombies..

Thanks go to Mark_H as I have had a result.

After taking Paypal to the Financial Ombudsman (and it taking over a year) the Ombudsman ruled in my favour. The guy from the FO that I spoke to several times was extremely pleasant and understood exactly where I was coming from.

I received a letter from Paypal that they were to credit my account with the full amount. I have since transferred the money into my bank account and closed my Paypal account.

If anyone is going through a similar experience then I would be happy to help them in any way, having been through it myself.

It has been advertised on the UK eBay site for the past two weeks without any luck and now it has been picked up by someone in the states.

First it was on buy it now for 12K and then down to 10K but I guess the action in the states started at $1USD so it has a few bids on them.

I dont think i'm wrong about this one but correct me if that's the case.

I think it is kosher. The first eBay thread provided a contact phone number which traces back to a hi-end install company in North London.

They did not sell at �12k nor �10k - perhaps because of the claret finish?

If anyone round here is really keen I can PM them what I know.

The UK one seems kosher.
The US one is NOT!
