Ahhhh, things are never perfectly clear which means that one more follow up is needed....would it not be the case that even after the 861 gets apodizing capabilities that it *MAY* still be better to pass the signal through to the HD621 because the 861, based on my current (and potentially incorrect) understanding, would not be able to provide apodizing, DSPs and upsampling all atthe same time...in other words:

a) SONOS --> HD621 --> 861 would have the pros of apodizing and upsampling and the con of potentially higher jitter jitter; whereas

b) SONOS --> 861 (assuming the 861 has apodizing capabilities) would have the pros of apodizing and lower jitter and the con of no upsampling..

Assuming the above is correct, then which trade off is best?

*CAVEAT* I recognize that the 861's capabilities to BOTH apodize and upsample may depend on whether it is receiving LPCM/PCM versus bitstream...in other words, for bitstream signals it CAN NOT apodize, decode and upsample as it does not have the necessary horsepower whereas for LPCM/PCM signals it can both apodize and upsample becasue, in this instance since it is NOT decoding a bitstream signal, it does have the necessary horsepower...

TIA.
