Two points:
1. The local dealer where I live will indeed set it up but it is hiot or miss -- depending onhow busy they are -- as to whether or not they are willing to stick around to make sure that everything is as it should be...the good news is that this forum exists for such purposes.
2. I am unclear about your post for two reasons but which to confirm the following:
a) On DD5.1 the bitstream signal is being sent via HDMI to the HD621 and then to the G68 where it is decoded with the G68 display showing the information/message that it was showing when the source was connected to the G69 via coax/optical (i.e. DD 5.1 Cinema...)
b) On DD-TrueHD the decompressed/LPCM signal is being sent via HDMI to the HD621 and then to the G68 where with the G68 display showing that the signal has been upsampled to 96Khz (i.e. MHR 96KhZ Cinema...)
Thanks in advance.. I think that it is part of being a Meridian dealer that they are supposed to provide you with service and support to make sure that the equipment is working properly. It's just that I don't choose to avail myself of those services. I'd just as soon do it myself but it would help if Meridian put out better information. The HD621 manual is pretty sketchy. Yes thank the gods for HH Meridian! On your other points I'm not sure what the questions are. The problem for me was that when I made the connection between the HD621 and G68 in the configuration program the connection type in the properties dialog box of the 68 did not go to MD1 even though I configured it that way when making the connection. Instead it went to "last valid input." That is a glitch in the software. Once I got that sorted out I've had no problem. Regarding the other issue related to upsampling: It states clearly in the HD621 manual ( I read it several times but somehow it didn't register!) if you configure it that way the HD621 will always send a 24/96 signal to the 68. There was some discussion that the 68 and 861 apply the music DSP to such signals but in my case, that wasn't the problem. It was that the MC digital inputs were improperly configured and I was only receiving 2 channels of information. Actually I don't know for sure if the 68 shows what sort of signal it is receiving. Judging from some posts the 861 seems to and maybe the 68 does but I never paid attention. I suppose there is some way to see it in the display of the 68.

Yes thank the gods for HH meridian! Agree with you on all points and while, like you, I want to be able to and know how to configure everything on my own it would be nice were my dealer patient enough to test everything aspect out and give it a good "shakedown"... The problem for me was that when I made the connection between the 621 and G68 in the configuration program the connection type in the properties dialog box of the 68 did not go to MD1 even though I configured it that way when making the connection. Instead it went to "last valid input." That is a glitch in the software. Once I got that sorted out I've had no problem. Understood and noticed this myself; that is, when palying with MConfig I noticed that I had to go into the 861 itself and change the audio input to MD1. Regarding the other issue related to upsampling: It states clearly in the HD621 manual ( I read it several times but somehow it didn't register!) if you configure it that way the 621 will always send a 24/96 signal to the 68. It was that the MC digital inputs were improperly configured and I was only receiving 2 channels of information. Understood...that said, I do want to be clear on this, I do believe that the G68/861 will apply the DSP modes to the 24/96 signal as this is -- and I am at work so would need to check when I get home -- what is done when my 861 received a 24/96 signal from my 800 which, like the HD621, upsamples DVDs to 24/96. Actually I don't know for sure if the 68 shows what sort of signal it is receiving. Judging from some posts the 861 seems to and maybe the 68 does but I never paid attention. I suppose there is some way to see it in the display of the 68. Sorry but I can not help you here as I have no experience / time with the G68...perhaps those who do can / will let you know how to do this as I would be very surprised were this capability NOT built into the G68...

I'm having a bit of a switching problem now with the Radiance and the HD621. This occurs when using a MEMB configuration to send video from an HDMI source and audio from a coax source (want to watch TV and listen to music). I was talking to Jim at Lumagen. In passing he mentioned that the audio EDIDs in the Lumagen are not applied to coax inputs. That was news to me. Don't know if you would find that useful.

A question to active HD621 users: do you also encounter HDCP problems with your G91/G98 when using the HD621 as a HDMI switch? I have at least two DVDs which work fine when going directly into my Panasonic projector but show HDCP handshake problems either during startup or every couple of minutes when watching them through the HD621.
My setup: G91A->HD621->(HDMI video: Panasonic AX200E/MHR audio: G61R)

Anyone know what happens if you do not connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI out on the 621? From the manual: The HD621 also has a “receiver” mode, which it will enter automatically if the display device is switched off or disconnected. This allows music to play or continue to play without a display. It may take a few seconds while the units handshake to establish this mode. It may also take a few seconds to re-establish communications if the display is re-activated, because of the HDMI handshaking procedure. Also see Note 1 in the Operational Notes section at the end of this guide. Operational note 1: 1. Some source/display combinations may not return cleanly from “receiver” mode, due to the way in which they handle handshaking. If you do not get the expected result (eg no audio is heard) even after several seconds have elapsed, it may help to switch to another input and then back again. This is not a fault in the HD621: it is a function of how the source and display communicate with each other. You did read the manual?

I think it's a HDCP issue but I'm no expert. Picture shows analogue-like full screen noise while sound is correct. Only for some DVDs.
If it's HDCP related do you think this can be fixed by firmware update sometime in the future?

Please forget my posts for now. Most likely a cable issue.
Sorry!
