I believe Meridian does make a DIN to BNC adapter. But not sure why you would need one. You should just daisy chain the HD621 like any other Meridian source component.

The only time I beleive you need an AC11 is when you start mixing SpeakerLink and non SpeakerLink.

Jack ,
Check your HD621 setup . One of the other HD621 threads ( I think started by David E ??) featured some helpful comments channel assignment etc . Is your Bluray player correctly setup to output 5.1 as PCM via HDMI ??

The HD621 has two comm ports, one BNC and one DIN. Its difficult to daisy chain when you are all DIN. smile With that said, I forgot I was using a bunch of DIN to Coax pigtails that I got from Meridian several years ago. So I simply made a coax to BNC cable and now I am good to go. Good thing I still had a bag of Canare BNCs, coax and RCA connectors along with some left over Belden 1694A. This is what I used to wire up all speakers for digital and comm. I think I paid $150 for 500' of this cable. Its great stuff, albeit a bit thick since it is RG6.

Before getting the HD621, I had borrowed a modifed CLUX from a co-worker / fellow Hitchhiker. Nishad borrowed it after I did. With the CLUX, I would always get a few frames of flashing black after a re-sync. Re-sync occurs when resolution, framerate or HDCP changes. No extra flashes with the HD621, so that is plus.

Ahh, I wasn't thinking that HD621 does not have din in-out and bnc in-out. That's really odd they left the out's out.

Yeah, my clux flashes screen of green on resync.

M.
I owe you a beer or 10! I found that thread and realized that the setup defaults to "last valid input" on the controller. Had to switch that to MD1 which is where I have my coax cables!

Bliss!

Now I can actually get down to listening. Immediately noticed that my SW seems out of whack. I think I will have to recalibrate the speakers.

Again thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

A wiki would be helpful. Better yet, M needs to get the bugs out of the set up program!

Agreed about the need for an M FAQ/Wiki . Its not acceptable to be left to trial and error setup methods .

Enjoy your sounds !

I suppose M think that the dealer will do all this for most people but those of us around here want to do it ourselves.
Just listening to my music server. Maybe I'm imagining it but the SQ is much better than just running directly into my G68. More open, transparent......

Two points:

1. The local dealer where I live will indeed set it up but it is hiot or miss -- depending onhow busy they are -- as to whether or not they are willing to stick around to make sure that everything is as it should be...the good news is that this forum exists for such purposes.

2. I am unclear about your post for two reasons but which to confirm the following:

a) On DD5.1 the bitstream signal is being sent via HDMI to the HD621 and then to the G68 where it is decoded with the G68 display showing the information/message that it was showing when the source was connected to the G69 via coax/optical (i.e. DD 5.1 Cinema...)

b) On DD-TrueHD the decompressed/LPCM signal is being sent via HDMI to the HD621 and then to the G68 where with the G68 display showing that the signal has been upsampled to 96Khz (i.e. MHR 96KhZ Cinema...)

Thanks in advance..

Stacey/George - regarding BNC comms. I was under the impression there is no need for BNC in/out. It functions similiar to a BNC LAN (in wiring), you use a BNC "T" and wire everything up.

Luckily I kept some thinwire ethernet cables and T pieces.

Slightly OT, presumably you can run DIN on one side and BNC on the other and this would be the same as with other G series kit such as processors? Just thinking about my future wiring requirements.

Probably work fine. A 511 Patch panel is just a "T" too with 4 taps.
