Yup...am very happy...
Now, on a related topic, I will also be picking up a new Blu-Ray player to mate to the HD HD621 which means that it MUST internally decode DD-TrueHD and dts-MasterHD and in this regard I am looking for:
-- Suggestions, including rationale thereof, for the best / good player to get at this point in time.
-- Suggestions / recommendations between Denon's, Panasonic's and Sony's offerings as these are what my dealer carries
-- Rumoured new / replacement models that would suggest that waiting may not be such a bad idea...
Thanks so much...
Joel

I'm not a VP or 621 person, but assuming that the VP is making a decision based upon content (interlaced vs. telecine vs. progressive), rather than source, surely the VP can still go after the 621 since the content will remain consistent no matter where it is placed in the chain? The VP50 maintains lipsync by adjusting the amount of audio delay. If you don't feed the audio into the VP50, it can't delay it. Yes, of course. I blame it on other things on my mind. However, giving this some more thought, is there not a scenario that some people are having where the video needs a delay? In this case, *if* the HD621 passed through HDMI audio which was perfectly insynch with MMHR audio, which I don't believe it can do at the moment, then this could be a scenario whereby the VP delayed the video based upon the redundant audio that it received. So whilst not actually using the audio, it uses it a cue to determining the required delay. Could there actually be two scenarios, each requiring different chaining of the VP and HD621? One where video needed delaying, in which case HD621 should precede VP and the other where audio needed delaying, in which case VP should precede HD621. As I say, I am not a VP or HD621 person and just thinking out loud.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RADIANCE + 621 USERSI forgot something rather important which will be of comfort to Radiance + HD621 users: Two years ago(!), I persuaded Jim Peterson to include the following feature in the Radiance to-do list: Ability to configure output 2 as digital pass-through (video only, audio only, both) It's not there yet (Lumagen is gradually getting through the outstanding feature list) but, in short, it will allow users to connect all of their HDMI sources to the Radiance and pass through the selected HDMI input to the second HDMI output without any processing or adding significant latency. So we'll get the best of both worlds: connection, switching and video processing in the Radiance, and an unmodified HDMI stream to the HD621. Constant video delay in the Radiance will be the icing on the cake. Why did I ask for this feature? See: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10600888#post10600888FYI, this is what I plan on doing with my CLUX once the relevant features are implemented in the Radiance, but the same applies to the HD621. - All HDMI audio sources into my Radiance. - Turn on constant video delay feature in the Radiance (when implemented). - Use first Radiance output to feed my display. - Use "source pass-through" feature to second Radiance output (when implemented) and use this to feed the CLUX.

What is the position for the three SPDIF cables that go into both the HD621 and the 861? I had it hooked up yesterday and was not impressed with the sound. It also played much, much lower in volume than playing it without the HD621 using the one coax digital cable going from the Bluray to the HD621. Somwething seems amiss.
Thanks, Ken

Hi Ken
Which MD1 or MD2 are you using. If it's MD1 it is 1 2 3 on both HD621 and 861. If it is MD2 it is 1 2 3 on the the HD621 and 4 5 6 on the 861. My volume was lower but I run about 7-8 dbs higher than before. No problem.

Arggh. I was told by two different sources that the initial shipment of 621s to the States was very small and that the queues are very long. A few local dealers seem to be avoiding the phone calls of their loyal Meridian customers on this topic. ;-) I'm not counting on getting my hands on one until next month unless I get lucky.

Meridian USA received four pallets of HD621s earlier this week which have now been shipped out to dealers. I don't know exactly how many units are on a pallet or how many are already spoken for.

I just recd. my HD621 and I am in the process of hooking it up. I am running into this issue. The Config program gives me an error dialog, "Cannot Apply Connection". "THis connection cannot be applied to the settings of the G68ADV. The HD621 source does not have an MSR legend."
This happens if I try to connect multichannel digital from HD621 to G68ADV MD1 or MD2. It also happens if I try to connect only the DL/R to and digital connection.
If I ignore the dialog, the system is setup. I am able to change sources. Although, only the video changes. The audio does not.
Anyone know what might be going on?

Okay. I finally figured it out. Ignore the error message and set the "Main audio input" on the G68xxx to MD1 or MD2 as necessary for each source connected to the HD621.

Okay. I finally figured it out. Ignore the error message and set the "Main audio input" on the G68xxx to MD1 or MD2 as necessary for each source connected to the HD621. I don't have a HD621 yet but this is what I assumed you should do in the config. 1. I guess with this set up the G68 will not know the difference between sources going through the HD621. It will just be "HD621" to the processor. Correct? So what if you want to apply different DSPs to the difference sources? 2. I suppose, then, that you still have to put the sources in your config since you load that config to both the 68 and the HD621 and the HD621 needs to know. Correct?
