I use the VE10 Progressive Card in my 800 V3 feeding a SIM2 HT300 projector.
After upgrading the HT300 to Version 2.07.04 of their firmware, (which makes it better able to handle a 32kHz Progressive signal,) I find that I prefer the 800 Progressive output from the 800 rather than feeding the 800 interlaced output into the HT300 and letting that do the de-interlacing.
I only have the card for about 2 weeks and I have not done enough back to back testing of specific movie scenes, but I have found the 800 Progressive output offers greater depth, background and shadow detail, and just overall a more “pleasing” picture. However the difference is not night and day.
I don`t have enough specific knowledge of exactly how the VE10 card works, but my superficial understanding is that the card operates in the “digital” domain (really not sure of that), but that basically it has more “information” about the upcoming frames to be better able to make decisions about what processing to apply.
I`ll leave it to people with more knowledge to expand on that aspect of things, but basically the SIM2 HT300 has to “react” on the spot, so to speak, while the VE10 card has more time and information to react.
I have read something on this board about PAL Progressive 576p being available from this card after “updating” it, so I`ll have to find out a bit more about that.
