kswanson OT - PQ of the Australian GP had a lot to do with the fact is was nearly twilight. The in-pit and on-wall shots looked much better than the washed out shots into the run or darkend shots into shadows. Lets see what Malaysia brings. mrbluray Re Sky "you cannot get interlaced SD from its HDMI port" - are you sure? See the thread "I've got 576i out of Sky HD ... do I get a medal?" at www.avforums.com in the Scalers sub-forum.

Yeah you can get 576i out of a Sky HD box over HDMI, I was doing it a couple of years ago, can't remember what kit I was using but was doing it, going into a Crytsalio II.
Have a look at that thread I probably say in there somewhere.
No Darling, I've had it months!

Yeah you can get 576i out of a Sky HD box over hdmi The only SkyHD box that you can achieve this is with the original Thomson box, but it is seriously flawed. Current wisdom is that the Thomson is actually outputting the interpolated fields from its shoddy deinterlacing rather than the originals. A DVDO VP with PReP is the only solution that I'm aware of for interlaced SD over HDMI with SkyHD. The Samsung box's deinterlacing is supposed to be a lot better though, so it would be possible to live with 576p. The Thomson's deinterlacing is awful.

last call, I am ending this at 12AM Sat the 4th, I have 2 more slots to make it to 10 and that is how many Edge units I have
if I was to magically somehow go over that number before tomorrow night I can get some more units no problem, but it looks like 10 will be the magic number
thanks for all the orders, appreciate it

(Back from Mexico...)
I wonder what the Edge would do in this situation: I have a SD Sat decoder with component output. The channels my wife view have both 4:3 and 16:9 content, and we want everything displayed as good as possible. And since it's a plasma screen we don't want any black bars that may leave temporary "burn-ins" for hours.
If I connect the decoder using a SCART cable directly to the TV and send standard PAL/NTSC one pin will give the current aspect ratio and the TV can change to always give a full screen. But the TV does this pretty lousy, so I thought a scaler would help. But if the (component) output from the Sat decoder switches between 4:3 and 16:9, will the Edge be able to "follow"? Or does the viewer have to manually switch between 4:3 or 16:9...?

Ermanno, there will be little if any customs duties due, I can't say specifically because I am not in your country, but it won't be much
looks like everyone else has answered your other questions
any other just let me know
thanks Hi Gary, I`m just back from a week business trip in Ireland and just the time to read here what happened during these days, then I`ve duly issued my order and paid. I beg you please to manage in a proper way the shipping documents for the custom. I don`t care about few bucks of fee, which I know to be around 2,5-3%. What I fear is the VAT which here is the 20% of the value evidenced on the documents, but since you know how to manage , consider this only as a further recommendation. Ciao Ermanno
