Frank, with Shawns board the modified devices output industry standard 2 channel PCM signals, I tested this with various pre-amps I have, can't wait to hear what Meridian guys think grin

the early chosen member is due to receive his unit tomorrow, hopefully you guys can poke some comments out of him, I made him promise me that under no circumstance would he say anything but exactly what he thinks about it, good or bad, no BS, this is the way I work cool

thanks

Ermanno

You can pixel map at 50hz, someone posted this on the avforums.......

HDP timings are fairly standard:

VTOT=800; VACT=768; VSYN=5; VFRN=5
HTOT=1280; HACT=1024; HSYN=85; HFRN=35
VRATE=50.00

The screen positioning & sizing is left at 0,0,0,0 on the user menu, and as follows in the service menu: HPOS=BD; VPOS=71; HSIZE=80; VSIZE=6E

(I then altered the user menu position / size to obtain mapping at 60Hz, on this panel it looks like the USER menu is Refresh-rate specific, whilst the SERVICE menu is input-specific - this way I can pixel map at 50Hz and 60Hz using the same input channel).

Gary:

The work looks nice, but given the slightly unusual shape (i.e. not boxy) is there a rack mount option available from DVDO, or do you need to order a custom shelf from MA?

Cheers,

John, being how thin the unit is I think I could actually fabricate some rack ears on the case itself and it would sit 1u in height

however the processing inside puts some heat out, so clamping it in a 2u shelf like this would make more sense, at under 30$ as well:

the unit looks weird from the front, but it is normal sized/shaped component

thanks John

Gary,

Can you suggest which mini-jack IR receiver would be suitable for the Edge?

Mike, let me know your system or how you intend to integrate and I will let you know what you need

you can connect a hardwire IR cable from a Xantech block or even a URC/RTI setup, the jack takes any IR emitter output from just about anything

if you wanted to do the RS232 route the Xantech RS232 to IR programmer would work, although costly

thanks

Hi Gary,

The Edge will be in an adjacent room next to our lounge. I will be using a Harmony 895 to control Edge but would prefer to use the 895 directly, rather than the wireless extender. I thought of just feeding the little 3.5 jack through the wall, connect it to the Edge and leave the IR receiver hidden just behind the Plasma.

How does that sound?

Cheers
Mike

Mike, that would work, but you need a plasma proof IR receiver plus on the other end near the Edge you would need a 12v power source, this would be very easy to wire up yourself

I would just get a Xantech plasma proof IR kit, which has a IR receiver, connecting block and power supply, it also leaves you room for 3 more components should you need to control anything else the same way

thanks

Gary,

Thanks for that, quite expensive frown

On an other topic, would it be possible to manually select video outputs for Plasma or Projector instead of Auto Select for each? I realise the outputs would need to be split using a HDMI 3 x 2 switcher, which I already own.

Cheers
Mike
