Will the new Oppo be available with both the Meridian mods and HDSDI?

I will work out what you guys want, if that includes further discount or the freebie

question for everyone, need some opinions

[Linked Image from anchorbaytech.com]

looking at the rear panel of the Edge, you will see four inputs I am going to talk about, one H and one V syncs to allow a RGBHV input on Component 2 and then two sync inputs labeled 1 and 2

input of RGBHV sources are now very very rare, but component is still of course used very often and you don't want to lose that

how would everyone feel about those 4 inputs listed above being used for the 4 x SPDIF mod? it would certainly make for a cleaner install and the connectors are fairly high quality, the 2 component inputs would function as normal, you just lose the ability to do RGBHV and RGBS input

let me know what you think of this vs adding 4 RCAs above the HDMI output area

thanks

In my system that would be fine, and I'd be perfectly happy with that. It would certainly save you having to cut the back panel to the right of the optical out (and for all I know there could be electronics in the way there anyway).

I guess the only common-ish scenario this would remove would be using a laptop that only has VGA out. Maybe that makes it a bigger deal.

thanks for the opinion, cutting holes is not a problem for me if that is what the buyers want, I have drilled so many holes in back panels in the past 5 years doing SDI mods that I am used to it, I actually have punches as well

the area to the right of the optical out is all free space and it is labeled with grey as a output area which would tie everything together nicely in one area

inputting a laptop would be about the only thing I could think of as well, maybe some HTPCs but 95% of them would want to use DVI/HDMI for that anyway

of course the 4 converted inputs would be properly labeled and all

Just to let people know, a sync input is needed if anyone in Europe wants to connect an RGB Scart to RGBS breakout cable.
