I think that should be :

5/6 "SIDE L/R"
7/8 "REAR L/R "

At least , that's the way mConfig assigns the channels for a 7.1 system . It also mimics the OE12 output card on an 861.

HD621 3/4 to 861 IE42 DM2 5
HD621 5/6 to 861 IE42 DM2 6

8 CH are received, then the HD621 Will Perform a Downmix in the surround outputs.

I have just put the 5/6 output in to 7/8 no surround output. The mConfig HD621 shows 3 coax digital out Marked "D L/R" "D C/LFE" "D Surr", so 1/2-3/4-5/6 are connected to "SmartLink" MD1 [1-2-3] or MD2 [4-5-6].

I did likewise and appear to be getting the same signal from either 5/6 or 7/8 ! This definitely needs clarification from M . On 861 the channel marking system is :

1/2 L/R : 3/4 Cen/Sub : 5/6 R Side / L Side : 7/8 R Rear / L Rear ( OE12 Output card )

Strange to change and not mention it in the manual or maybe its because HD621 is only expecting 6 channels so they let you plug into either 5/6 or 7/8 to simplify connecting up ????

Just checked this out using the Legacy Configuration to set up a 7.1 DSP setup and it definitely assigns the Sides information to port 7/8

I changed the 621s. "5/6" to "7/8" not the OE12 Output on 861 I run A 5.1 setup HD621 set to LPCM 6Ch. The 861 Output are 1/2---3/4---7/8 mConfig 861 "7/8" are Rear L/R

Has anyone confirmed when Meridian plans on shipping the HD621 to the US? My west coast representative doesn`t seem to know for sure.

My unit arrived today. Had some startup problems, and followed all the tips in the posts above. Very good tips i must say, since a number of things are default wrong i guess (last valid interface etc)

But .. no sound. In the end i found that the new blue cables were not pressed in far enough. Man these have a tight fit, and i was affraid i would damage the cinch chassis parts. So i took a old DVD player and loosened up the connectors just a bit and than it finally worked.

First impression is good. Tested with my HDI BD prime player.

Well i have it all hooked up but have some problems. Playing movies on my PS3 is fine, my 568.2MM switches to Movie6=Cinema as expected and all is good.

However if i play some two channel music from the PS3 hard drive be it PCM or MP3 it stays in Movie6=Cinema. Same thing happens if i use playTV. Strange thing is if I play back a .AVI or .VOB (both have 2 channel sound) on the PS3 it swiches to Movie2=Trifield. Have i missed something?
