No wonder JK is late posting the Q&A...he's been locked into that thread for the last few weeks wink

DougWinsor would have been banned after his first few posts here I expect laugh

I didn't ask for a single mega thread and I agree those can be useless. But it's just as useless having a bunch of I got mine today with similar questions too.

Currently , they are dealing with the ' semantics ' of the terminology used in the 621 manual!
Please read the thread at your own risk. Seriously. There are two idiots on the thread - DougWinsor and QueueCumber - who think that Meridian is downsampling the lossless codecs from 96/24 to 44.1/16 and then upsampling them back to 96/24 in order to get around HDMI licensing requirements. Why do they think this? Because the manual doesn't say that Meridian is not doing it! This is the sort of inanity that goes on at AVS and why we are lucky to have our own forum with only congenial, intelligent, rational adults participating. AVS is a bottomless pit of useless misinformation. Beware.

Oddly enough, with what we know about apodizing and the latest opinions as to why high sample rates sound better (less time smear), I wonder if anyone could tell the difference (particularly if noise shaping was used when de-rezzing from 24 to 16 bits)? i.e. I wonder if, from a human hearing perspective, Meridian could make that process transparent?
