Have just taken delivery of my HD621, serial number 100066, my dealer,Martins in Norwich has another in stock. Will be a little while before I have time to install it but initial impressions.
Well built, heavier than I thought it would be
Marked as 'HD621 HDMI audio processor', M clearly see it as a processor.
It has a proper power cable, the 421 was via a plug in transformer.
Has a manual switch on front, similar to 421 to allow manual switching between inputs, ocassionaly found this useful on the 421.
Given it has 4 x MHR outputs they only supply 3 cables, typical Meridian. Still I only need 3 for the G68.
The supplied cables look a bit basic, when I bought the original system I bought better cables, don't know how good the M supplied ones will be.
Access to case is via 12 small phillips type screws, looks easy to get into but I wont try at present although I am sure many of you would have your screw drivers out by now.
Will let you know how I get on
David

Best of Luck , David . Enjoy . Did it come with the ' ears ' to add it to a rack ? The early pics had ears on but the User Guide seemed to imply they were an extra .

~M~ There are two models, one std and one rack mount. They couldn't make what they would consider a satisfactory looking front plate and have it handle both duties.

Judging by the pics from the Datasheet and the one on the HD621 homepage on M's site they do look very alike . The AC11 came with the ears as an accessory which is fine for adapting for rackmounting but I suppose I should check with my dealer to see if he got any rack mount versions just to be sure .
Thanks for the info ,

Given it has 4 x MHR outputs they only supply 3 cables, typical Meridian. Still I only need 3 for the G68. The way I read this, four cables are only needed in an eight DSP speaker surround processor-less environment. There will never be a 4x coax MHR input for Meridian surround processors. There will be MMHR (RJ45) input cards for future processors (who can say about the current ones).

Is that a guess or inside scoop from the Mothership? A guess, and a pretty solid one at that, IMO.

I hastily put in a clarification to my order for a rack mount version (the one regret with my 861 is that I wasn't told about the rack mount option when purchasing). From the pictures I can't see why ears aren't an option, though there has been speculation as to the aesthetics.

1. So I gather the connection between this unit and my G68J would be smartlink out jacks to multichannel digital in jacks using coax cables?
2. Do you have to configure the multichannel digital in jacks on the G68 using mconfig in some different manner? Would that require a firmware upgrade or the latest version already will handle it?
3. I've got a Radiance XD to handle video processing so can I be assured that the HD621 will not mess with the video signal?
thanks for any responses.
