So John, What conclusion(s) did you reach and what information helped you "get off the fence" ? Txs, J Ronnie:
I was vacillating on whether or not I should keep my 861v4 -- and it's only since CES, when things became quite a bit less nebulous about the future of M's processing chain that I finally got off the fence.

Coach, If you are talking to me....I got off the fence from hear clear honest information from my dealer buddy of over 30 years....but I still await the promised data sheet. Meridian as a company appears to me to be disfunction and unreliable as a communicator....but Jim helped to convince me...

Coach:
For me? It was that it was actually going to be available in a reasonable horizon as opposed to the nebulous "soon".

There is nothing proprietary in what they have released to date....I await my friend's information...but they sure could have been more forthcoming....which I don't think would have hurt them....but certainly have helped their customers/clients/dealers/market value....I can't understand what they were thinking...personally I am glad they have done something....and it seems a reasonable solution...if expensive...but just a few years behind the curve....but I understand their focus came from their "carriage trade" investors...who thought $3000 radios were the best target....on personal note I would have thought Meridian have been forth coming to their supports...you and other who have tried to communicate with them

I called the distributor for Denmark yesterday and he is convinced that he has a delivery scheduled for next week. Not to get hopes up but just relaying info I have been told.
However I went through such a long waiting period for my Pioneer LX71 BD player so I will believe it when I receive a call.

Ha-ha I wondered if you would chip in Joel. I've made peace with M's decision and now have 5 x DSP5200s. Ultimately, I think I'm better off

Its not a matter of faith....its about honest communication with their customers....my impression is that while they are good technologists that Meridian does NOT care about its customers/users....and from experience that is not a good business stategy.....and utlimately it doesn't help those of us who have invested in their products/technology....a very arrogant stategy on Meridian's part...still no clear information at a time it appears that product will ship....as a private equity startup person...these guys are ignoring their customer base....and that usually is NOT a good plan...

[rant]
Forf **k sake, M are under no obligation to communicate with their customers. That's the dealers responsibility and they get passed information when M are good and ready.
I think its pretty arrogant of people on here to expect a company to communicate 'personally' with them.
[/rant] Some people have made good points and M are not perfect in some of their communications, but people seem to loose track of the fact that we are not personally involved in the business other than being a customer.
Oddly, last time I asked Heinz when they were going to bring out green coloured baked beanz, I didn't get past the telephone receptionist.
Its the same with cars. If you buy a car from Ford, do you expect them to tell you what the replacement model is going to be like?
