Unless the discount is significant, given the current exhange rate it will be less expensive to order from the UK.

I thought about that too and even tried to get in the UK group buy, but was told I was too late.
My dealer usually gives me 20% off and if we get enough people together, it should be more. Which would bring us close enough to the UK price that it wouldn't be worth it(for me anyways). Considering, if it needs service at some point. I'm sure MA wouldn't want to service it for free if you bought from the UK.

That's good to know, thanks!
I thought they would want you to go through your dealer where you purchased it.

I spoke with my dealer (largest in Nor-Cal) in CA about whether he would be willing to do something like this of maybe just handle the order on the West Coast and he said he would get back to me.
Vince you have PM.
Best,
Jay

Has anyone heard from Vince?? I spoke with my dealer and he told me that he will be getting in some HD621's very soon but they may be a little hard to come by at first. He would be willing to work with us for a group price if we had at least 6 people interested. If anyone is interested please PM me for more details.

Just to reiterate if anyone in the US is interested I have worked out a decent price for a "group buy" with my dealer. PM me if interested as we need at least 6 people to join in. Thanks Joe

Vince & Group,
I had heard that the M-Ship got wind of Vince and his Dealers efforts (I'm guessing the Mother Ship had heard from other semi disgruntled dealers around the Country that maybe they were going to get "left out", somewhat understandable) and pulled the plug on large consolidated continental purchases. That is a drag, I for one appreciate what Vince and his Dealer tried 2 do 2 help us, especially as long as we've all been waiting !!!
I'm going to try and pick up where Vince and his Dealer left off but on a smaller scale, just Northern CA. but now with the approval of the Mother Ship, which we already have.
SO if anyone is interested in a group purchase in N.Cal the more folks that that sign up for the HD HD621 the larger the discount for everyone.
I'll post a Msg separately and start a new thread.
Or drop me a PM at klondikeike at gmail dot com
Best,
Jay

I'd assume that in Vince's case, the Canadian distribution chain probably wasn't happy at being side stepped either. If Meridian USA (and probably the Canadian guys too) could renegotiate the current 2.0 exchange rate with Mother to the market's 1.5 (actually 1.41 today!) maybe we wouldn't see all this activity to "leave out" the more local dealers?

Hi all,
Just thought I would confirm the UK full retail price for the HD621 as I just received my invoice from my old UK dealer, as my unit has just arrived (S/N.HD621100025).
The full retail UK price including the current 15% VAT was 1463.19 which represent the change in the original listed retail price of 1495, with the drop in VAT from 17.5% to 15% in November last year.
The VAT component that you would save getting it mailed to the US is 190.85 so the export price would be 1272.34 which is equivalent to US$1750 at today's exchange rates. I don't know what the postage and US import fees will add to that cost but there is a lot to play with compared to the US retail of US$3000.
Maybe M won't let UK dealers sell to US customers but as I live in Adelaide, South Australia, which has no Meridian retailer, I have not had a problem to date.
Now all I have to do is get my hands on it !
Cheers,
Steve

Wow that is a huge price difference. I'm sure it won't stay that way long.
