I emailed this guy a few times. I gave him a contact at Meridian to verify what he has (since he claimed to have no clue). His response was Meridian told him that the serial numbers of 24/96 speakers began with a "2" (suspicious). He also said Meridian wanted $450usd each speaker for boxes. I was even going to send him an extra remote (since he didn't have one), to push the display button which would give the version # to verify 24/96 but he said not to bother.
He will not pay to ship. So, I called a shipping company and received a quote of $550 to transport to Florida.
Bottom Line,
I would not be shocked if this is the case of someone walking into a store, taking a few pictures of equipment, and posting for sale on eBay. As long as the guy sends you something, whatever it is, it becomes a civil case of who said what.
These "too good to be true" deals are risks!
I just hope it works out OK for whoever bought the stuff.
And I wish Meridian would be a bit more cooperative with the consumer to verify whether the serial number of a product matches up to the assumed owner, etc.
