Prompted by the stuck CD I have been examining the CDs/DVDs which I have played in the G92 and am slightly alarmed at what I have found.
On all of them there is at least one (sometimes multiple) faint but noticable broad lines across either the whole disc or part of the disc, on the 'playing surface' side, about 1" in from the rim. These are about 1/8" broad and when I look at them with a magnifying glass I find they are comprised of very many tiny scratches, presumably where the pinch rollers have been - possibly when I have taken the disc out of the machine - causing the scratches along the line the rollers have gripped the disc.
All of the discs are still playable without any audible problems, and rip successfully with EAC/Accuraterip but, IMO, this isn't good and long term might well damage discs that are repeatedly played.
I should mention that I bought the G92 as Ex Demo stock, so I suppose it might have been used with dusty discs and the dust might have become ingrained into the pinch rollers. I also must admit to having been concerned whether this might be a problem with a slot loading machine before I bought it, but then thought Meridian wouldn't implement such a mechanism unless they were fully confident of it.
Anyway, I will take it up with the dealer and with Meridian.
