Good news: I remembered that you can turn off the auto scan (press and hold the next button for 5 seconds), this should enable the pass through without need for an active source and display. But it turns out you can also play a HDMI device this way without display on ! I played a Super Audio CD on my PS3 this way. Now if I only can figure out how to turn on the auto scan again ...

So then the Octava acts as a sink? That would make a modded Octava even more attractive for me...

It seems so. The problem with the 'auto scan' feature is that it will turn off the switch if there is no display detected. With 'auto scan' disabled, you can just turn on and off the unit yourself, and it will also stay on without display. As said, after disabling the 'auto scan' feature, the unit stayed on after I turned the display off, and the PS3 kept playing the SACD.

In Italy you can buy the Octava HDSA71 from Home Cinema Solution. The SPDIF mod board is sold by Shawn Fogg. And then you need someone to put it together ... but most likely Shawn can also sell you a modded unit.

Hi Evdberg,
I went on the site (http://switch-box.com/Home.html) but I have not understood what I must buy.
Besides a modified product doesn't exist. You can give me further information about it.

You Excuse my ignorance, but if I use the product as it am, which are the advantages and the disadvantages connecting it to the G68?
thanks,
Umberto

I recommend you just contact Shawn.

Without modification the unit converts the sound from digital to analog, and the G68 must convert it back to digital. Using the modification the signal is kept in the digital domain.

Can you give me the address to contact Shawn?
Do you know a reseller in Europe?

If I enter in G68 with analog signal, Does it use DSP Cinema, if I see films in BD by PS3?
