Perhaps I am missing something here, as I am new to Meridian products...
(my 861 is due to be delivered tomorrow, I can't wait!)


If I am to use my PS3 as my souce, what is the difference of using this unit or using the following setup:

PS3 Optical Out -> 861 Optical In
PS3 HDMI Out -> Sony TV HDMI In



What is the benefit of running it all through the HDMI in conjuntion with the HD621?

Speakers: B&W's - 800D (2), HTM1D, CCM817 (4), JL Fathom (2)
Amps: MC501 (3) & Adcom 7500
Pre/Pro: Meridian 861v8
