Question to all 8xx upgraders.

Has anyone received any old cards back when upgradind a 800 series.
with the 861 upgrade this means IE16 and perhaps OAx1 cards.
for the 800 it would be the OE20 and the OE20.

I just got word that Meridian does not trade in (i knew that already, but aked it anyway)
But they also do not send back old cards.
I already posted that i got back my ie16 when i upgraded my 861.

Anyone got cards back ?

I was told that if you want the old cards back you have to formally request that they be sent back to you. I asked for mine and they sent them back to my dealer with the upgraded 800/861

I assumed I would get my "un-needed" cards back but that was not the case. Since I plan on using MHR exclusively (861/800). I'm not sure what I would do with them. But for the dollars charged I think I send a note to Meridian asking about returning the cards.

Thanks,

What are you going to do with the unused cards? I suppose you could find a used 1.0 and upgrade it to a 2.8. [Linked Image from softronix.com]

Stacey,

I am not planning to re-use them myself, where to use them for ? It was just the issue that one is not given back cards that are still sold as new (IE16, OA20 OE20)
There was only one question on this forum for a OA20 for a 800 v2.5. from some one here in Europe. Would it not be nice to make him happy with a card i do not longer use, instead of Meridian throwing the cards away.

For me peronal i like to see the old cards (see what i payed for and no longer use. After that i keep them in a cabinet, and perhaps never look at them again.

I was told by Meridian that they want to avoid problems by people inserting older cards in new 800's, and issues with misconfigurations etc. I see that point as they might have to give more support, so it cost them money.

I have a Meridian 2.8 that I will not be upgrading to the 3.0 version. I would be interested in purchasing necessary old cards. Anyone interested in selling their old cards?

With the 861 upgrade you could only get a IE16 back that is usable. The Old Z3 card that is swapped is pretty useless as all 861's ever sold are equiped with one i think.

I got an explanation from the dutch distributor in the meanwhile. Old card are not given back because they fear that when people start inserting cards themselves it will bring up issues and questions.
What basicly happens with a upgrade seems to be:
- test the complete unit when it comes in for upgrade.
- Do the upgrade.
- Test the upgraded machine completely.
- Throw away the old cards.

So will not receive any cards back from the 800 upgrade.

Re spare cards.

My 861 is running V2.00 with the following cards

TP00
IA00
VS00
VS20
ID12
OA12*2

I believe my limitation to moving to 2.8 is the ID12. I need an IExx to move up.

Does anyone have an IExx spare from a V3 upgrade for sale ?

You will need a IE16.
Everyone who has updated a 2.5 or above 861 to a V3 has one potentially.

But will you not be better off with a upgrade pack - it is more expensive but will give you some advantages.

You seem to be in the UK, so good change you can find one in the UK. Otherwise i have one spare (from my 861), but must wait on my 800 to see if the IE16 has survived the upgrade [Linked Image from softronix.com]
