Just catching up with this topic as I've had a full surround rig working for the past two days now. The last time I had a 5 speaker set up was almost 5 years ago, and I too have been surprised at changes in Trifield width. I can detect no difference, no matter what the setting. Depth changes are clear enough, but Width provides no apparent adjustment. As has been noted earlier, this was always a very obvious adjustment, and it worked when I was using 5ks across the front with a 561 then a 568.1. I'm now running 8ks L&R and a 6kc (Yes! At last!) with the 568.2mm. Must say, in every other respect, it sounds gorgeous!

Dearerst Mothership, could you please add this to your list of New Year to-do's.

I currently do hear width changes but they are very subtle and it's hard to know what is better or worse.

I've sinced disabled my center for Music layout on Trifield I'm totally floored how nice it sounds. I wish I had the option to toggle the center because some music does sound better with the center on in Trifield. But most music sounds better without it now. No more Width and Depth issues to fuss with

I got my v6 and after some starting problems I now enjoy the fantastic sound.
I recognized that the Trifield width is clearly working now.

The best thing to hear it easy, is to have a record where the musicians are all near the center.

Take the RC, increase the width and the stage have much more wider stage, the musicians are more seperated now.

It is interesting that you found Trifield width working with v6.

I have the same firmware and I retested today. I cannot hear any difference going from a width of 0 up to 1.5

I seem to remember that when it was working (along time ago so I could be mistaken), a setting of 0 was almost 100% mono on the centre and 1.5 was nearly all stereo with very little sound from the centre

Are you getting a subtle change or is it very noticeable if you compare 0 to 1.5?

That's certainly my recollection of Trifield when it worked.

Width works fine on my v6, in a digital inputs driving balanced analog outs configuration.

Yes its clearly hearable, even my gierfriend can hear it.

You get a sound of mono, I don't know if this is mono real.
Playing party mode on mono sounds different, but here all the speakers have the same SPL.

Width width zero, the sound is strongly coming out of the center,there is just a little width on the stage.

Changing to the other extreme (1.5) the soundstage get opened in the width and depending on the record itself more or less artificial airy/floating.
Maybe it depends on the setup how good you can hear it (and of course of the record)
I go via the aux (limited to 48kHz) on the 800 to the v6.

Increasing the Trifield width also makes a little more width in the listening position-
means you can sit now a little more further from the "ideal" position.

Perhaps one of the dealers here can ask Meridian for comment on this. If it is fixed, when do we get fixes for all the old gear which is broken?
