I think Sooloos will be the exception that proves the rule. Their audio server and system is an absolutely brilliantly designed and built product, to a similar ethos as that which Meridian applies to it's product range. I can only imagine what a Meridian/Sooloos combined server would be capable of! There are a few user reports on the 'net of Meridian users having been won over by the Sooloos system which are worth a quick google.

I struggle to understand what a $12k Sooloos music server can offer over a Squeezebox, etc. when used into a digital system?

In the spirit of Spinaltap, I would like to confirm that I am not involved in the corrupt theft of a global sport.

Elegance. That`s a big part of Meridian`s brand. I think it`s a great match up.

It may not be in everyones budget here but I think it's a great step for them.

I think a buyout makes sense where they were behind in this space.

I can see legal 5.1 24/96 storage coming with this in the long run.

Yes, an MHR output from the Sooloos to our Meridian processors/speakers would be just the ticket.

Not necessarily. I'd love to see a glossy black Sooloos touchscreen on top of my 861 and connected by MHR.

That's exactly my point. MHR Sooloos replaces the 800.

Upgrade 800 to 800-BD with internet connection, then stream off from Sooloos server for Audio (and SD-Video). Plus use the 800 to rip disks on to Sooloos.

May be I like my 800 too much smile

Mind you Sooloos server is only 1 Terabyte; I think they need to up the anti here so we can store lots of HDef material.

Yeah but you need something to rip the MCH discs. Sooloos cannot.

Exactly. Apodizing, MHR etc. Nice integration. 1 Terabyte is plenty for CD quality for most normal folks for while. That's about 3000 CD's lossless compressed if I have my math in my head right.

It also don't mean things won't advance. It's a great jump start.

Again it might not fit my budget but neither does DSP8000's.
I'm glad for Meridian.
