Which music server system matches best with Meridian 808/DSP8000?

Not sure if its the best but I am using an airport express with toslink output into my 808i.2 from my imac. Gives me access to 250GB worth of music and I can even use my iPhone as the remote. Pretty neat stuff.
I have been sorely tempted by the sonos system as well in the past.

I have the Sonos system going into my 561 and have been very happy with it. It also serves music to the rest of the house. I haven't played a CD in years. It may not be the best audiophile solution, but it fits my needs perfectly.
Main system (when room is done): 861v4, 7 x DSP33, SW1600, Oppo, Sonos

SlimDevices Transporter is the only one that can do 24/96 and truly squeak out everything your DSP8000 is capable of. If you're looking for ease of use go for Sonos. If your looking for cheap Airport Express or SqueezeBox 3. Anything that is not 24/96 will sound more or less the same if setup right.

First that plays stereo, 5.1 and 7.1 surround in Hi Rez Olive Systems/Hifidelio seems to take forever releasing their Opus 6.

But upto now when AIX Records have this music server of their own design, they have played the DVD-Audio records they release on a Meridian 861/800 combo. And all their recordings go directly onto hard disks and are kept digital all the way, so it at least seems the like "things digital"...

imho, depends on content. if you target CD qualily, then choice is plenty. i use Sonos with G68, must tell that Meridian's reclocker works very good. almost no difference between Sonos and CD-transports (for example CEC TL-51).
if you want hi-res audio, then it's Transporter or Linn with digital output.
I miss my old Meridian setup.

Meridian bought Sooloos today.
And that seems to be the best answer to what music server works best with Meridian.

In the past Meridian made everything themselves, which imho was also their strength. Now they buy their stuff instead of developing it. I know that most companies do this, but in case I buy such product, I tend to buy the 'original', not the OEM version ...
