It seems to me that the main motivation for this thread is our common concern that Meridian continues its success so that our preferred supplier will continue to service our significant investments.
It further seems to me that some of the criticism and critique directed at Meridian is motivated by our concern that the company that has provided the best product for us continues to keep our systems current with the developing technologies.
It comes out as the tail wagging the dog, but it seems that by suggesting what Meridian should do from our outsider position, we are basically doing the only thing that we are able to, to safeguard our interest.
To add my perspective, I find the most significant advantage of Meridian the all digital path to the speakers. I find that fundamental premise to be a head and shoulders technically superior concept to any other process on the market. Yet for a new comer to enter this realm, it is a hugely expensive proposition, unless one starts second hand, and even then it is not what most people would consider affordable.
In this economic depressed climate I cannot comprehend why Meridian would expand their marketing effort to upper end department stores that really do not encourage the new Meridian customer to enter the DSP world. I would suggest that Meridian dramatically expanded their customer base in their core competency by providing a very affordable (made in China if necessary) entry level complete DSP system, that one could, if one choose, upgrade one piece at a time all the way to the 800 series and the ultimate of the audio world(IMHO), the D8ks.

Correct Dolf. The problem is this must be demonstrated in a proper environment. In the US that just doesnt exist for the most part. Btw- B&O has a digital path system too. I agree with VK. What Ive seen from M is great product but there is a problem with the connection to the marketplace. Unless you have a good connection, all the superiority in the world doesn't matter. Case in point: Apple Stores. Yes, this would be a terribly expensive proposition for M- BUT- consider the "positive" side of the financial meltdown: deals on retail space can be had. M should look to do a few strategically placed M showrooms and they should look to a partnership with a flat panel display company along with possibly a control system company. You should be able to walk in and see 3 levels of systems. Entry, mid, and crazy bonkers.

The personalised brochurettes sent out by Russ Andrews have been noticed in other threads. These exclusively push the F80 and AD88 for sale by mail order. If this introduces new buyers to Meridian, who perhaps would not visit a Meridian dealer, then the Meridian (i.e. in-house) brochures sent with them might help stimulate further Meridian purchase. Anything that helps enlarge the Meridian community must be a good thing.
Pushing the F80 also goes some way to meet the points made above for a Meridian entry-level(!) system.

Hello Asa,
I certainly agree that anything to enlarge the Meridian community would benefit us all. I hope that you are right that the F80 does this, but it seems to me as a stand alone unit it might be more of a "one of" sale to someone who is not already in the community. What I was looking for is a more entry level component system that lends itself to upgrading with the high end Meridian components.
But I am not a marketing expert, I was more just expressing my hopes, and I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I have said it before but bears repeating; Enrty level Meridian is Pre-Owned. This provides a path for older units to follow which alows for further new purchases by those who can afford it. You dont get entry level Cartier or Channell etc, save a carrier bag, and to provide it would de-value the brand. IMHO You want in? You have to pay. Meridian will survive, Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
