HH - Huntingdon? Hitchhiker base here. The CLUX-11SA has landed!
HQ - (nervously) Copy that Hiker base. How is she looking?
HH - She's beautiful Huntingdon! We have FIFO lock!
HQ - You're breaking up Hiker Base. Please repeat!
HH - We confirm FIFO lock Huntingdon; the input buffers are stable.

pause

HQ - Damn those pesky resourceful cheapskate Hikers... We could lose a ton of sales to this modified CLUX!

pause

HQ - What does it look like Hiker base? Does it have a nice case?
HH - It looks like an external floppy drive Huntingdon.
HQ - Thank God for that. We're ok!

pause

HQ - Hey, do you think we could sell them a G-series case for it?

grin

Flippancy aside, this thing appears to be working perfectly with my Oppo 980 and PS3! FIFO seems to be FIFOing well.

I'm currently listening to the Carlos Kleiber/Wiener Philharmoniker DVDA of Beethoven's 5th and it is rather gorgeous.

The big downer at the moment is that my Toshiba XA1 HD DVD player isn't playing ball. I think there may be an EDID problem between it and my Radiance because it keeps sending out two channel (I think) 96kHz from the Harry Potter 5 TrueHD soundtrack. Weird - I need to investigate more.

But basically for a bit over 200, I've got myself a digitally outputting DVDA player and multi-channel digital from my PS3. I'm sure the XA1 problem can be solved.

I'd say typically 2 days if I don't have a backlog but often turn them around next day. If it is for a device I haven't seen before that sometimes takes an extra day or two to find good tap in points and such.

I might have a line on the CLUX to be able to sell pre-modded units for those that were interested in that.

Thanks,

Shawn

Is the XA1 sending out 2 channel or is it sending 5 and you are only gettting 2 channels? IOW, do you hear vocals (a source downmixed 2 channel) or are you just hearing the L/R of a 5.1 soundtrack?

That is likely an EDID issue. There have been some complaints of only getting 2 channels out of the 5 through the Radiance lately in some combinations. I haven't run into that issue though.

Yes it did - caught me unawares as I hadn't set up my Radiance.

It's the Radiance. Thanks for the pointer. I removed it from the chain and let the CLUX provide EDID.

Digital TrueHD sounds AMAZING!

Try playing with the various EDID options in the Radiance and see if that helps. I always use USER for both audio and video and that has worked well for my setup. I think you can set it to pass back the audio portion of the EDID of the device in the second output, perhaps that will help?

Hmm. User EDID seems very broken for me, but using CLUX EDID seems to (I've set all sources to 5.1 so the 7.1 entry in the CLUX EDID won't be a problem). However, my G68 is saying that I'm getting 96kHz audio from the Harry Potter 5 HD DVD which shouldn't be possible! The odd thing is that the audio sounds good...

I think the Toshiba's tended to upsample decoded TrueHD to 96kHz. I know I've gotten 96kHz off of numerous HD-DVDs over HDMI but can't recall if I have tried that Harry Potter HD-DVD.

Wow. More and more surprises from the XA1. Of course, having a Meridian processor, I don't *want* it to upsample! I wonder if I'm going to need per-source EDID control in the Radiance?
