You could try CD and HD DVD from the Tosh... I believe CD is possible over HDMI; it's a crazy thought though!

So who's going to be the first to send one to Shawn? smile

I could see a DVDO Edge plus a CLUX with Shawn mod would be a nice and relatively inexpensive HDMI+switcher+scaler solution.

I do hope the CLUX works. Even if Meridian's solution is sonically superior, the CLUX/3xSPDIF solution is 1/10th the rumoured cost.

Ok 3 full films from Bluray later and the unit works without problems.
Played one with the Samsung 1400 and 2 on the PS3 (which i also have and not mentioned in previous post)
The Toshiba and that works fine too.

Also tried the popcornhour A-110, but that only gives out 2 channel PCM, so i must look at the software level and check some forums if 6 channel PCM works or not.

Good news. I'd say the only thing remaining to be answered is whether or not the CLUX accepts 96kHz material or if this is refused via EDID. A tricky one to confirm without either (a) probing the feeds to the CLUX's DACS or (b) having a device downstream of the CLUX with HDMI audio stream reporting.

I could try a 96 Khz DAD (DVD-V with audio and still pictures) on the samsung and the PS3.
I know for sure that is 96 Khz

But might the players downsample if the CLUX says it can't accept 96kHz?

The PS3 claims it sends out 96 kHz (i think)
It sounds not very different from the 800v3 playing it via MHR
With my short test the 800 sounds better, but the loudness of both paths is different so comparisation is hard.

I have a audio edid in the Radiance telling the source it is capable of 96/48/44.1 Khz. Could set that to only 96

As ever, comparisons are difficult. This is a 96kHz DVD-V, right?

Good idea. As the Radiance is effectively a sink on its receiving side and a source on its transmitting side, the CLUX EDID can't affect the player. Presumably there will be no audio if the CLUX can't receive 96kHz 5.1.

Great work!

Indeed

It still plays when i have only 2 channel 96 kHz PCM in the audio EDID in the Radiance.

Also i tried to playback CD, no problem, and a 48 Khz track works also.
So it seems 44.1/48 and 96 kHz is working.
