Should Blu-ray fail, it would be disaster for those of us who value quality. Not just because of the picture improvement we get over DVD, but also because Blu-ray is most likely our last chance to have a mainstream high resolution music format as well. Amen to that! I watched a regular DVD on my projetor the other day, after being exclusively Bluray for many months - what a come down! Couldn't believe how fuzzy everything looked. It was really hard to watch. I suspect the chances of another mainstream high resulution music format sailed down the old flusher with the mass-market demise of SACD and DVD-A - at least for music-only releases (as opposed to concert videos) in any volume. But as an enthusiast I am always irrationally optimisitic, so here's hoping!
