I believe not. 1.2a is required for DSD (SACD) over HDMI and 1.3b (or maybe 1.3a) is required for HD audio bitstreams.

Edit: When I say no differences, no doubt there are some metadata differences in the spec. However, functionally, 1.1 is capable of multi-channel PCM.
